if you're fucked because you can't get a job, and there are jobs elsewhere, maybe you should consider going where the jobs are? People do it all the time.
and somehow, with no money, get to europe where they speak a variety of different languages and just go out and get a job in the middle of a global recession.
why do we think we're too good to do that? we're not. if it's a little hard with the languages, maybe it's our own fault for not being more linguistic and that we should take our licks in peace.
Many European education systems prepare people for economic migration or to at least be able to deal with foreign businesses, because it has been beneficial or even necessary for many generations. This hasn't the case within the UK until very recently.
i'm just noting that we're less well equipped to be able to work in any other country in Europe than, well, people from any other country in Europe. i mean, i'm the same, i can barely speak english, let alone any other language. getting angry at other nationalities for being, essentially, more qualified/able to adapt than us is blatant transferance (sp?)
because in a sense, free movement within the EU does not create a level playing field. It isn't any particular nation's fault that British people are ill-equipped to take advantage (financially) of free movement within the EU but it has been clear from the start.
I just think that Mandy's statement was absolutely fucking ludicrous......
To him 'going to work in Europe' is a whirlwind of private jets, luxury hotels, 6 figure salaries, generous expense accounts and yacht parties with the Rothschilds. For the overwhelming majority of newly unemployed Brits it would involve living in near slum conditions far from anyone they know and love (and without the finances necessary to just pop home for the weekend whenever they like) and no real way into the local workforce anyway because *surprise surprise!* the free labour market only really exists in the UK, everyone else has been practicing protectionism for years. Do you seriously reckon a French company would pick a Brit over a French national when they have unemployment problems of their own? Absofuckinglutely not!
This is Labour's Norman Tebbit moment ('Get on your bike and find a job.....') only what Mandy said was infinitely more ridiculous and insensitive, particularly to Labour's core vote who are the least capable of following this advice.
It's like employment and an adventure all in one! I would move anywhere in Europe if I could find a decent job, I reckon. Obviously though, right now I have no committments and could do this easily. Later on in life it might be harder.
Not me gorgeous. That's why I'm asking!
Someone hasent
actually said if your unemployed move to europe?
pretty reasonable advice
if you're fucked because you can't get a job, and there are jobs elsewhere, maybe you should consider going where the jobs are? People do it all the time.
Leave your friends and family
and somehow, with no money, get to europe where they speak a variety of different languages and just go out and get a job in the middle of a global recession.
people do it all the time

narrr not really
its just the way they look
you mean do what people elsewhere in europe are doing?
why do we think we're too good to do that? we're not. if it's a little hard with the languages, maybe it's our own fault for not being more linguistic and that we should take our licks in peace.
It isn't really "our own fault" in an individualistic way
Many European education systems prepare people for economic migration or to at least be able to deal with foreign businesses, because it has been beneficial or even necessary for many generations. This hasn't the case within the UK until very recently.
yeah, i didn't mean it individualistically
i'm just noting that we're less well equipped to be able to work in any other country in Europe than, well, people from any other country in Europe. i mean, i'm the same, i can barely speak english, let alone any other language. getting angry at other nationalities for being, essentially, more qualified/able to adapt than us is blatant transferance (sp?)
Perhaps, but it isn't quite that simple
because in a sense, free movement within the EU does not create a level playing field. It isn't any particular nation's fault that British people are ill-equipped to take advantage (financially) of free movement within the EU but it has been clear from the start.

Oh I'd definitely move to a different part of the country.
