Any indie fun to be had in this place?
i went there with my friends once. We dominated!
it was pretty cool. I'm sure there are better Cathedrals, but historically it's a really interesting place.

i've been hitting st giles' in edinburgh as of late
not 4 d8s
just for reading and sitting about...
nothing seemed to be happening
I can imagine it being like the first half of Hot Fuzz
Are you coming here Uni or just a couple of days?
Anyway there's a venue called The Farmhouse that is just starting to hit its stride. Eugene McGuinness was there at the weekend and then before the end of the month they've got Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Mumford & Sons and Horse Feathers.
If it's for Uni you've got Indie nights on a few nights a week.
I moved away like 3 years ago... what's The Farmhouse?
just got round to making this thread now. of all those bands i only mumford & sons, i take it the rest are as folkie as them?
i'm up for coming to this place if anyone can give me directions/dates/wants to meat up.
so you come out of the underpass, turn right and then it's left at The Flying Horse (not a pub I'd recommend). Mumford & Sons is on the 13th and you can get advance tickets (£3) from the Lounge on the Farm website.
Looking over the group I'd recommend the CT2T nights if you're at all into punk and BUMP if you're a Hype Machine reading remix addict.

The Club NME that igethitbyemokids mentioned was run by the same guys as The Farmhouse, they just didn't think it was worth paying for the branding any more.
I might as well plug it seen as it's possible I'll DJ it again soon... there's a night at The Foundry every now again called Headrush. It's on White Horse Lane just off the highstreet (same as The Cherry Tree which is a pub I would recommend especially on Thursdays) and the next one is this Friday. Open until 2am but last entry is 11pm.

Wow I didn't know about this. I shall bear it mind for the next time I visit my family, thank you :)
FUCKERS O CLOCK.
glad they abandoned it though.
what sort of night is Headrush? i quite likes the foundry.
but because it was just two of us DJing for 5/6 hours we cover quite a lot of ground. Pretty much if one of us likes it we'll play it so I've played everything from Britney to Fugazi to The Mamas and The Papas. It's by far the least pretentious indie night in Canterbury. It's on this Friday like I said but I wont be doing it because of work at stupid o'clock on Saturday.
Oh and while I'm plugging everything in Canterbury

Folk night starting next week and Clyde's Takin' Off nights are always fun.
is the folk night live bands or DJ's?
*will stop asking questions*
but if the interest is there I'm sure it'll have bands eventually.
The Uni seems to have been a bit rubbish this year for things worth going to. You've still got Ruby Tuesdays in Origins and FACE in the venue on Friday but since it got moved to Friday Matt has been playing loads of crap along with some decent tunes early on. Long gone are the days it was called Pop! and was on Thursdays... Erol Alkan, Boyz Noise, Kissysellout all came through here.
the farmhouse is burgeoning as something approaching promising. but other than that, it's sparse. but if i hear of anything i'll get to you swiftly.
but that shut down pretty swiftly.
farmhouse is good. they serve a decent roast partridge.
band nights at the uni's i guess? i work at one of them, so you'd think i'd know.
can't argue with pound a pint.
it is however, a bitch to get into after 8.
i'll miss mumford cause i'll be back in belfast possibly catching asobi seksu but will definitely hit up horse feathers.
