I failed my 6th one today, i feel awful
seems to be a common amount at the moment.
first two fails were for really stupid little things.
I knew at 6th form reversed into an old woman on his test.
But I was dead lucky on the route - it was round my end of town. And I think it helped that I thought I'd failed quite early on, so I relaxed more.
i don't need to drive
Right at the end after an almost perfect drive, today i turned right instead of going straight on as I left it too late to change lanes :-( Just on test days i have spent about £700
nearly hit someone on the way back to the test centre and was given a 'major', so he failed when he would otherwise have passed
My instructor was pretty cautious about putting people in for the test, really keen that everyone should take enough lessons so that they would pass the first time. Worked for me.
Everyone eventually passes, but the more stressed you get, the more it'll affect you.
My mate passed on his 5th time, and he's no worse driver than any other of my mates. Just keep at it.
highway code questions whilst sat in the car at the end of test. None of this theory exam bollocks. 1992 I think. They also used to ask if you could read a registration number from a certain distance, My mates car was parked by the test centre so I knew the reg without looking. A21 LSD or something equally as stupid : )
passed years ago (like me) and would fail repeatedly if faced with todays theory test.. Keep trying !
on a bbc2 programme where ive failed a record number of times, as i wont give up but still feel i may never pass. Im awfully tempted to tell a sob story next time and hope the examiner is compassionite and will pass me whatever.
65 hours of lessons. I'm good now though! Well, I was, except I haven't driven for three years, so I could have forgotten it all...
how much did that cost ye? Over a grand?
and she kept my fee at the price I started at, £14. So around £900. From my very generous mother :(
I was moving flat and had hired a van. To make it worse it was one of those without a back window so I had no rear view mirror. Needless to say I was shitting it beforehand. Doesn't take long to get back into though. Something about riding a bike.
Failed 3 times on the Letchworth test route. Then failed massively when doing an intensive course in Southend. Finally passed in Bedford of all places, with only 9 minor faults. :D
minor faults today. Id be happy with 7th time, i reckon ive spent at least 4k in just over a year.
First time, just to rub it in. That was a long time ago though. I think the driving test is one exam that has become harder to pass.
I just went to pieces that day. Driving in the wrong lane, going far too slow, mounting the pavement when parking, you name it, I fucked it up. Got 4 majors and god knows how many minors. My instructor just shook his head and I said "you better drive me to the train station as I feel I'm a danger on the roads."
Oh yeah, it's a right pain now. I had to do my theory twice, (not because I failed, but because my old certificate expired) which shows how long I've been attempting to drive since passing last April.
By the time I'd failed on my 6th go, I broken past the 'I can't do this' barrier and hit the 'I'm going to do this, goddammit.' Then it all just clicked. I tell you, the euphoria you feel when you get told you've passed is incredible.
I told my instructor before the test i dont think i'll pass today
finally passed last week! i think i'm a slightly better driver now than i was first time out, but its really just luck i think. stupid mistakes etc
I passed on my first try
all you've got to do is mind all the reindeer that are on the road.
and gave up. am going to start again though as not being able to drive sucks balls.
when it would be the best thing for working ect Public transport in my area is crap and overpriced, its £2.20 one way just for a 10 minute bus journey.
it is SO disheartening isn't it? have you thought about changing instructor? or, as said above, doing your test from a different test centre? don't give up! i really wish i'd stuck with it!
Im his worst pupil ever, in 30 odd years he hasent had anyone fail as much as me. The nearest test centre is miles away so it makes no sense for me to do it there. Ive never been so disheatened by anything before.
and the 'mistake' which took me over the edge was crossing over the centre line when driving past some council guys trimming the trees at the side of the road.
They had road cones around their area which left about three quarters of a metre of road on the left - I'm not sure if I was supposed to plough through them or make the test vehicle morph into a motorbike to navigate the slim corridor they left, but briefly driving on the right hand side of a deserted road was obviously ridiculously stupid.
Keep trying. Once you've passed, you won't give a shit how many times you took the test.
piece o' piss
i can't be arsed anymore. the last time i got a major fault for pulling over onto double yellow lines two minutes before the end of the test. fucking bastard cunts.
Anyone who doesn't pass first time shouldn't be given a second chance tbh. Sorts the Shumachers from the Ratzenbergers (RIP).
Peice of piss
Failed twice in Hull, passed first time in Salisbury.
You mean people don't pass first time? How it's so simple...Why...is it just that I'm awesome?
But as people say here, it's a lot to do with luck. There are several things that could've gone wrong during mine which fortunately didn't.
