revolutionary road.....now we're getting somewhere...
so this were always gonna be a funny one with the book being one of...if not the...best book i've ever read....
obviously it was never going to be able to even hint at the depth of the book...but it was a good adaptation and representation of the themes/characters/setting etc etc....solid...faithful...etc etc...nothing that quite sparked up anything crazy in me(but it never would having read the book).....but still good...decent.
both main...and all... actors are brilliant, with winslet being the pick......cinematography and direction very sparse and basic...just let the actors go full flow...quite theatrical in its simplicity...
the thing that really stuck out for me, was the whole seeming age diffeence between the two....i thought that the films downfall would be dicaprio looking too young, too small for the part.....some hack made a jibe about him and winslet sat at the globes looking like mother and son or something to that effect.......but this works...and not only that but it gives further interpretation....it really emphasised franks immaturity....the emphasis on manhood and becoming a man...the aspect of the young couple meeting, growing up and the choices they made....the idea of acting like a boy would act like a man ...playing certain roles in life...or wanting to play a role that you just arent right for.....the boy walking in his dads shoes......blah blah...
anyway.....was good.....better than milk.
anyone else seen it yet?
