Has anyone else read any of his books. I love them but I dont know anyone in the real world who likes him too.
Moon Palace (probably my fave)
New York Trilogy (one I always buy peoples' birthdays/xmas presents)
In the Country of Last Things
The Music of Chance (read this in one night - and what a night!)
That one about the silent film guy, I forget the title (least fave)
I've still not read:
Timbuktu (sat on the shelf at home)
Brooklyn Follies (borrowed from a friend)
and whatever the new one is called
I'm sure I've forgot some.
Which ones do you love?
it's been a while since I read any but The Music of Chance and Leviathan were where it's at. NYT as well of course.
with Brooklyn Follies.
Yeah, I need to read it.
My 'to read' pile is huge now.
and Brooklyn Follies is great too. Other than those, Travels in the Scriptorium and Oracle Night.
I read Music of Chance once when I was travelling and dont remember too much about it. That will have to go on my 'to read' list. Im off to Amazon right now.....
I am such an illiterate idiot. Well, I am from the north.
The Book of Illusions (the one about the silent film guy)
I actually really like that one. I love the bit where he takes his first journey on a plane straight... really honest and harrowing. Like a question that everyone thinks but never asks and he brings it on so subtly.
And the character of the mean old woman is fantastic too.
and Leviathan on your amazon jaunt.
I can't recommend these highly enough.
As you can see I don't really know his later books.
Oracle Night is another one I haven't read. Hopefully they'll show up cheap in the charity shops round my way.
i'm reading the invention of solitude at the moment, which is incredible. i get goosebumps and my stomach knots with every paragraph.
