I need to replace my ageing mp3 player, the battery life has gone lame and I cannae be arsed with the crappy software any longer. (The original software, sony connect, they stopped supporting since it was so laaame)

So.. was thinking about an ipod classic- since they must be like 7th gen now and reasonably reliable, but tempted by the overall snazziness of the ipod touch. Shame the capacity isn't too good in comparison, and the prices are like, well high in these credit crunchy times.

So... advice people? Are there any non ipod alternatives also worth checkin' out?
