Anyone know when it's on Xbox live?
I thought I read something saying Sunday 26th but, alas, no.
I already did this thread this morning. I'd heard today too, but no such luck. Someone said next monday?
it's gold only. not on new arrivals, under R.
it's quite difficult and i can't admit to knowing what the fuck was going on but it's quite fun, though the aiming system is one i'll always have a problem with.
at about 0.1kbs
mm. it went from "quite difficult" by myself to "jesus fuck fuck fuck i want to smash the screen up" when it was me and my girlfriend co-op and then me and my housemate co-op. can't do the shanty town thing on co op yet, always run out of bullets too soon.
you have to rely on Chris's massive punching arms to keep them back. The 'boss' guys really soak up the bullets in this one.
On the strength of the demo alone, I don't think it matches up to RE4. The multiplayer co-op is great; the forced single player co-op much less so.
It doesn't help that it just doesn't seem that scary either; although this may be slightly affected by the fact that I just played through Dead Space, which nearly made me wee myself a few times. Still, as long as there's a bit where a giant statue of a midget chases me down a corridor I'll be happy. As well as another bit where I go through a small door to find a moat of lava, replete with extravagent dragon-galleon-guardians, protecting a small inconsequential box.
but I thought the scary bits were a bit 'cheap' whereas I'm sure that RE5 is going to have more actual scariness :)
nothing in Dead Space had the creeping uneasiness of that bit with the right hand in RE4. Or the regenerators. Or the thing in the bin in the jail.
But then again, I felt like I was in some Lovecraftian nightmare for the entire thing, and I don't think I've ever felt so fragile in a game. Bundle of nerves the entire time. Especially in the vaccuum bits.
For me NOTHING compares to the regenerator zombie things in the resident evil remake on the gamecube. That game is truely frightening.
It's a different type of horror. RE is more about making you feel uneasy and using the atmosphere to build up tension.
With Dead Space, the scares came from knowing that something was going to come flying out of an air vent at you ANY MINUTE NOW. The bit right at the end cut scene was genius though :)
Homoeroticism with Krauser: badass
Mr Chainsaw: scary
The Chief: scary
Midget statue: badass
Blind prisoners: scary
Albert Wesker's axe kick: badass
My housemate left his Xbox at his parent's house
the blazing African sun really isn't the best place for a survival horror game. It's a nice change of pace and all but it's not really the right atmosphere. I expect there'll be plenty of indoor/underground sections to compensate.
On the whole it feels like Res Evil 4 with a slightly easier weapon equiping system, prettier graphics and a co-op. Which means I'm sold.
plus, fuck giving all your ammo away! i wanna give bitch like 10 bullets not my whole stash
but the quick method makes sense while playing co-op: you don't want the game pausing every five minutes whle one of you switches guns. Plus it forces co-operative play- the old "cover-me-while-I-reload" routine.
Capcom have obviously geared this one towards two player. Which is a strange move for a game most people play alone in the dark for effect. But seeing as I have xbox live and a few friends with time on their hands and a love of shooting the undead I'm pleased with the way it's shaping up.
is the best new feature in it. Forces you to get a bit of space or do some planning when you need to switch out your weapons. There was always something faintly ridiculous about the whole thing of pausing a massive firefight to delicately rearrange the contents of your briefcase, anyway ("Well, maybe I can fit this grenade in if I just turn the black bass sideways and put it next to the egg; oh, alright, I'm just going to eat it.")
I'm hoping that there'll be tense alone-type bits in single player (that if you play in co-op they'll just have the difficulty ramped up).
How many melee attacks have you all seen so far? I think I spotted three: the STITCH-THAT-right-cross, uppercut, and neck snap thing.
j/k im still psyched for this
