Nollywood Movies

Stealthy [Edit] [Delete] 4 replies 16:53, 25 January '09

Imagine the cheapest Hollywood film remade by a Bollywood street auteur with a will of iron featuring actors literally grabbed off the street. Welcome to the Nigerian film industry.

My mum loves watching these films. There's a premium channel on Sky that shows them. The majority involve love triangles, witchcraft or love triangle with witches performing their craft. One film I saw when I was about 10 involved a gigantic mecha-tortoise invoked by a witch to destroy her rival for some guy's affections.

Here is a youtube about Nollywood films: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpPXgStqjfs

  • I stumbled across Nigeria Movies on Sky

getting home drunk. I watched transfixed for two hours - although somehow the film I was watching was a three and a half hour epic. Grabbed off the street is right, but it was very entertaining in a COMPLETELY NON-RACIST WAY.
