why exactly doesn't the BBC want to air it?
Is it incase they express an opinion, I don't really understand.
which I disagree with. but I respect them for not bowing to pressure, equally.
so basically the don't want to take any sides?
themselves up, because there airing it.
And I, personally, think it is genius.
The BBC report on Gaza last night was a real heart-strings affair with teary-eyed kids.
I think there's a certain amount of gamesmanship going on.
And this publicity is pretty muted in comparison to the Daily Mail having front pages pasting them for being anti Israel.
They had two options, neither had good outcomes so they took the one with the least amount of burn attached
(and i don't think heartbeeps was being entirely serious) but on last night's news they definitely seemed to want to have their cake and eat it.
The BBC can't be bothered to get the ire up of the right wing press which already considers it a Palestinian sleeper cell.
I'm so glad that the DEC has taken over the Gaza appeal now; maybe I can leave work before 7 this week now
I think they should have aired the appeal, but I can see what you're saying.
I still absolutely love the BBC and think it does so many fantastic things, on TV and online. But BBC-bashing is gradually turning into a national sport and it bothers me. I have a couple of friends who work for the BBC and it's a source of much pride for them both; they both really believe they're doing something good, and they are.
the BBC will be finished within 20 years and then we'll see it really was a special thing to have in this country.
of running the news without featuring a story about themselves. I can't cope with using the website now just because I get so angry whenever I check it and see "BBC slammed for..." "BBC criticised for...", "BBC defends...". If they want to put those stories up then they should be in a different section, not the news part. So (zetta) annoying.
to be one of their 'major' news stories. They've had things like "BBC receives complaints over broadcast of..." which 9/10 isn't anywhere close to news. They never used to do it so much. It's totally infuriating and pointless. The Ross/Brand thing was worse than usual, but even before that it was pretty much constant.
