There's a big group of people getting ready to go out and one of them decides they feel ill and drops out.

The others are still going, but the dropper outer tries her (usually it's with girls) best to discourage the rest of them not to go, fairly subtly.

"The weather looks a bit rough. I'm glad I don't have to brave it tonight."
"Are you sure you're all up for it? I heard it's very expensive and packs on Wednesdays."
"I'm not sure you'll like the music they're playing to be honest - you MIGHT do but to be honest I doubt it."

and if all else fails:

"Gonna be in all on my jack jones tonight! Ahhhhhhhh well. What ya gonna do? Eeeeeee."
