  • France slam

  • I'm also annoyed because I couldn't afford Ireland Scotland tickets

But getting to Edinburgh would've been a nightmare as there was track works that weekend.

    I think

    France
    Wales
    Ireland
    Scotland
    England
    Italy

    LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 13:21 | X
    • You don't want to pay your hard-earned to watch a game featuring Scotland

      Wales
      France
      Scotland
      Ireland
      England
      Italy

      Lucien @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 13:25 | X
    • The England team is a team for the future

we should be pretty good by the next world cup, but i think a lot of people underestimate Ireland. I'd like to see them win if England don't because i think they're game play and team are just superb. Scotland are third on my list. I do like france a lot, but it's just a bit silly sometimes.

      chris_is_cool @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 13:26 | X
      • I've finally given up on Ireland

Year upon year of them ruining my predictions - banished to 4th for now. Although I think I could easily do a direct swap with where I have France and still be happy with my list.

        Lucien @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 13:27 | X
        • hmm yeah

the only reason i do really like ireland is the fact

          chris_is_cool @Lucien | 21 Jan '09, 13:29 | X
          • is the fact

i drew them in a sweepstake 2 years back and i fell in love with them

            chris_is_cool @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 13:30 | X
  • Also Stephen Ferris to win player of the tournament

    LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 13:24 | X
  • I'm quite excited about this all...

Think its going to be a tight tournament with france probably edging it. Wales will probabaly be close and its hard to right off england with the quality they have.... shame about the side though.

    idle65 | 21 Jan '09, 13:27 | X
    • I don't rate wales that much to be honest

they have a great kicker and their scrums are always pretty shite. Although i have seen their tight head prop do a few good runs before (i forget his name)

      chris_is_cool @idle65 | 21 Jan '09, 13:29 | X
      • I think they looked ok in the autumn internationals...

If they get their loose play sorted they have the backs to do the damage. In the autumn internationals their forward play looked to be improving, its just their line-outs and set play that was dire.

        idle65 @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 13:33 | X
        • i was going to use the word dire in my last post but

i substitued it for 'shite' at the last minute

          chris_is_cool @idle65 | 21 Jan '09, 13:34 | X
          • you shall rue the day you called Wales shite at ruby fella ma lad..

            Ricky_Ronco @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 13:38 | X
            • if they win i will be very very very surprised

              chris_is_cool @Ricky_Ronco | 21 Jan '09, 13:38 | X
              • I think the pressure to defend the grand slam might be a bit too much...

                idle65 @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 13:44 | X
            • Ruby ?! Rugby Rugby Rugby Rugby, ah ahhha hha ahaha

              Ricky_Ronco @Ricky_Ronco | 21 Jan '09, 13:53 | X
      • Their scrum and line out are both pretty handy actually

        LordLuciusBanter @chris_is_cool | 21 Jan '09, 14:00 | X
        • Wales????

The scrum is fine, not the best but ok. The line out has been wales biggest problem for years - its terrible and was over the autumn internationals.

          idle65 @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 14:07 | X
          • They came top in line out stats in the last 6 nations

It suffered from injury disruptions in the autumn games

            LordLuciusBanter @idle65 | 21 Jan '09, 14:09 | X
            • Thats good to hear..

I missed most of the 6 nations last year. I have far too many bad memories of the wales lineout over the last 5 years... its long been the bane of mine and my dads life.

              idle65 @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 14:13 | X
    • It's easy to write off England

Their back row isn't dynamic enough and they don't have a scrum half who can deliver quick ball. They will struggle against sides like Soctland and Italy who will slow the ball down all day long, and France, Ireland and Wales have the pace around the base to do them some real hurting

      LordLuciusBanter @idle65 | 21 Jan '09, 13:54 | X
  • Euan Murray

    Delon Armitage
    Tommy Bowe
    Rob Kearney

    Big fans of these 4

    Lucien | 21 Jan '09, 13:33 | X
    • I'm been raving to my friends about Armitage for years and they laughed

      Euan Murray = Lions tighthead

After the summer internationals an Aussie paper compared Kearney to a young Latham. Praise indeed. Shame he won't the Lions test jersey, but Lee Byrne is just too good

      LordLuciusBanter @Lucien | 21 Jan '09, 13:59 | X
      • I love watching Armitage play

He looks like an artist amongst tradesmen in that England backline though. His brother is supposed to be fairly handy as well no? I haven't seen much of him myself.

Euan Murray absolutely demolished Jamie McIntosh when we played them in November - I haven't seen anyone do that to an AB scrum for a long time.

Can't argue with Lee Byrne at fullback really - best in the world on current form. Kind of surprising really - I remember thinking he was a bit rubbish when he first emerged.

        Lucien @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 15:22 | X
        • He's reigned in his temper in recent times

He used to see red mist very very quickly.

Steffon, his brother, if the management have any sense, is the future England 7. Built like a brick out house, almsot as fast as his brother, carries well, tackles like a demon, scraps on the floor, England are crying out for him.

          LordLuciusBanter @Lucien | 21 Jan '09, 16:57 | X
          • Also Lee Byrne

Every time he gets the ball you sit up and think "Something's going to happen now". His kicking from hand is unreal

            LordLuciusBanter @LordLuciusBanter | 21 Jan '09, 16:58 | X
  • I'm excited!

i was sad not to get Ireland/Scotland tickets... but hopefully maybe somehow will get some tickets to SOMETHING.

    sarkyfox | 21 Jan '09, 13:44 | X
  • I've got tickets for all 3

Scotland home games and am hoping that they romp to victory but doubt they will.

    hamstir | 21 Jan '09, 13:55 | X
  • Will RBS last until the end of the tournament?

    Anschul | 21 Jan '09, 13:55 | X
  • DiSclaimer: I know absolutely nothing about rugby

    Wales
    France
    Ireland
    England
    Scotland
    Italy

    GalacticStar3ruption | 21 Jan '09, 14:01 | X
  • I think this one will probably go to Wales

France will be the main threat - but no Grand Slam for anyone. Maybe the Triple Crown for Wales.
