What can I do to avoid them? Current options are not sleeping, or drinking until I'm comatose.
I've recently cut down on smoking, so i'm blaming it on lack of nicotine.
I think a lot of the ones I do have come from worries that aren't necessarily resolved. Perhaps it's worth confronting some of the things that scare you?
it's good to write down anything that's bothering you or you're worried about before you go to sleep, it seems to help get it out of your head and onto paper. i've done it before and it does help a bit.
speaking from experience i have pretty nuts nightmares a lot of the time and i sleep so deeply it's hard to wake up from a lot of them!
Someone slit my throat, but it didn't kill me. I don't quite know what worry or fear that's relating to.
obviously the fear of someone slitting your throat can't be a day to day thing! but anything that's bothering you will manifest itself in some weird way. i don't mind dreams and nightmares, it's just your brain tidying up.
