The economy - is quantitive easing the answer?

Rose-Kitten [Edit] [Delete] 15:45, 16 January '09

After watching John Varley's speech (Chief Exec of Barclays) earlier this week in which he stated he supported and felt quantitive easing was the only way forward to help move the economy - within limits, of course to watch levels of inflation, obvs.

Just looking at the FT is making my stomach and heart sink and am wondering whether the depths are so deep that printing more money MIGHT - just might be the thing to get going again.

(quantitive easing is bascially printing more money - Bank of England would print more money and strategically buy toxic debt, or so to speak).

Depressing.
