Ethical Shopping (liberal guilt-centric)
Following the shock revelation that Primark have used sweat shops to manufacture their jumpers, I'm reminded that I should be trying harder to shop more ethically (although I've only ever bought one thing from Primark).
It's a bit of a minefield though isn't it? Do I just assume that everything that doesn't have a fair trade sticker is produced by unethical means or are some companies more responsible than others?
Also, I really like Coke and Sprite, but the Coca-Cola corporation certainly don't have the best track record in ethical trading. Do I boycott it altogether (I rarely drink more than one can a week) or is that simply cutting off my nose to spite my face?
So anyway, what is/are the best and worst stuff/places to buy/buy from? Which companies are best and worst? How much influence does one 'consumer' have? Can you ever hope to be completely ethical in your shopping habits and if you can does that mean forgoing all your favourite treats?
Help me out here.
