Help with getting a reference...

bovinemammal [Edit] [Delete] 11:45, 15 January '09

Hey hey, I'm after a bit of advice with regards to referees. I want to apply for a PGCE Secondary in Mathematics for September but can't think of anyone to do my reference. I left Uni back in 1999 so that's too long ago for a reference from my tutor! GTTR website says I should try an employer, training officer or careers adviser. I don't have either a training officer or careers adviser so this just leaves my employer. I have recently changed job so asking my new employer for a reference is not practical since they will obviously query my commitment to my job (which is fair enough) and probably boot me out the door. I have asked my previous employer and they have said they don't know me well enough to comment on my academic qualifications, personal life etc... so what should I do? I am completely stuck, has anybody come across this problem before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
