At 26 I think I might finally be becoming an adult.

I'd rung Baraclays about something else and then they offered me it but the computers weren't working so it hasn't happened.
I'm weighing up the pros and cons.
I'm definitely not planning to use it often and don't intend to run up much debt on it (only what I can pay off at the end of each month) but the fact you get guaranteed refunds on certain things with credit cards you don't with debit cards makes it tempting.
How many things have you needed to take back recently that you've not been able to? It's all a trick! Every bit of it.
I was once like you, thought the same way you did and got suckered into a credit card. I ended up owing the fuckers £13,000 and other than some nice clothes, a shit load of CD's, girls hanging off my arm and numerous hangovers I had absolutely nothing to show for it.
Actually, Barclay card you say? I hear their rates are very reasonable.
and ensure that they don't increase you without knowing (a favourite bank trick of the past).
Use it but pay off the balance each month.

because I'm going to the states a couple of times this year and they don't accept Maestro over there. I am a bit scared of what I'm capable of though.
i dont even have a credit rating as far as i know. As my grandad used to say 'if you havent got it, dont spend it son'.
