Looking at pictures now, make's me want to pack up and move there tomorrow.
repeat: whiterussian to thread
whenever someone says 'norway' it is the first thing that comes into my head.
but not since i was about 15.
the terrain is a bit like scotland but everything is huger and more epic looking and because it's in Scandinavia nothing is shit but nothing is amazing. There's a certain level of consistent above average niceness to the streets, cities and public services that I find Norway, Sweden and Finland all share. (Finland is nicest)
just don't attempt to eat out in oslo.
I like how the thread starter assumed there would be no-one from Norway, so they had to ask who had visited the place.
this is my friend with an authentic norwegian sheep, in norway:
this is a norwegian mountain as seen from a norwegian island:
this is norwegian beer on a norwegian dining table:
this is a norwegian barn in norway:
this is a norwegian beach:
this is me driving a boat in norway:
this is me killing a fish, in norway:
this is some norwegian sea:
this is a bit of oslo:
all photos (except for the last one obvs) are taken NORTH OF THE ARCTIC CIRCLE!!!
that norwegian beer is viking as fuck. NORDLANDS
not the one of her cutting a fish in half?
But I prefer the vessel I used to navigate the seas (well, fjord which isn't really a fjord) in Norway.
due to a ferry.
where is it?
Think it's about 25 miles or so from Drammen.
Hopefully going back this summer, though she now has a flat in Oslo somewhere, so it'll be there. Bit more to do as well in Oslo...
i've talked to so many disers about norway today it's really bizarre
we get some pretty amazing summers in oslo every two-three years
but the only Scandinavia-based accent that I find truly horrible is the south tip of Sweden.
Is there anywhere to eat in Oslo that doesn't cost 1000kr?
but i could name you certain areas of town where it will be affordable
knowing me that will probably be in about 10 years
But only if I get to see Jens. Oh, Jens... <3
she was only in the country visiting a friend for a few days and then her friends dragged her away when they wanted to leave the bar :(
to end up with scandinavians, constantly. It's quite silly really.
but 4 out of the last 5 girlfriends is taking things to the extreme.
my mums goin to do 'family tree' stuff, so i'm tagging along simply with the intention of playing spot the phil elverum photograph...
I had the luck of doing some work out there and getting to fly out four or five times in a year. It's my third favourite country in the world.
I don't like the heat.
i was literally going to start this topic. i was looking at norway just the other day.
im going to go travelling in the summer and finish it all off in norway. go and see the midnight sun. it'll be lovely.
it's a shithole and rougher than you would imagine.
but that's only a ten minute train journey out of oslo! you should have gone out in oslo instead
but my relatives live all round Lillestrome so for a boozy walking night out it's the place to go. Where they live is really nice but that town is a depressing dump at night full of aggro Norwegians.
The train to Oslo is lovely and one of my cousins has an amazing place up near (excuse my spelling) Holmenkoln (ski jump place) overlooking Oslo and the fjords. Beautiful but we always end up staying with my aunt.
it's real nice up there though. i hardly ever go though as my parents house is pretty much as far away on the other side of town as you can get.
that I am trying to get an invite to as well. Lots of skiing. My mum went at Christmas.
Yeah, he's a rich bugger even by Norwegian standards.
£9 for a vodka with mixer, ouch.
When I was in Oslo in May I was walking around thinking that the homeless there look better than most of the “regular” folk I see in the street in the UK.
Aquavit (a spirit, based on potatoes, about 45%) is harsh but has to be done
Lutefisk – don’t even go there.
On a random note Stavanger has the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to (and a shop that sells Irn Bru, I was happy)
