Black on White racism- Will it ever be taken seriously?

scutterbucket [Edit] [Delete] 17:49, 12 January '09

With all this talk of Prince Harry being a horrid racist, it's got me thinking about the flip side of racism, namely when people of a skin colour other than white say "racist" remarks to white people. A lot of black comics have done this in their stage shows, such as Chris Rock and Richard Prior and I've never found it remotely offensive. Perhaps as people have suggested with Harrys remarks; context is everything.

It also got me thinking about an incident that happened to me at the start of December. I was racially abused by a black bouncer in a club called The Dolphin in Hackney. He called me a "white cracker", so i said "White cracker? That's racist. How would you like it if I called you a nig nog?" and he and his bouncer chums went mental and threatened to kick my arse. I can laugh about it now but it was quite a hairy moment.

So, do you think there's any difference between black on white racism and the vice versa?
