I've heard waxing's better. BOOM BOOM!
Get outta here, Basil Brush.
Miserable old goat.
WE NEED DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS AND DEFENDERS!!!! argh!!!
please (if we get him) put him IN THE HOLE
Obviously what I've seen of him is the same limited stuff everyone else has seen of him but he would be a good addition and the way Arsenal play should compliment his own style nicely.
He can create chances all day long for a natural finisher like Eduardo to just tuck away.
These Russians are so blate. Can they not just sell the entire club to Putin and have done with it?
he's getting kicked week in week out when he plays in Russia, so the physicality of the Premiership probably won't bother him. Whether he'll able to adapt to the probability of having far less unchallenged time on the ball is a completely different matter - it seems to be a pretty varying thing for players to adapt to regardless of skill.
I know they're different players, but I'd have rather had him than Pavulychenko given the option. Easier to spell for a start.
It also means him and Pavy can hang out together being whinging malcontents.
that Arsenal fans were mocking Spurs for in the summer - "looks like Spurs are signing the new Rebrov".
er mocked spurs when they did sign the new rebrov.
Pav has scored 9 = success already. Go cry into your cuppa soup./
18 at the end of the year.
not a fuck of a lot of goals for a striker is it?
Most teams would be happy with a striker that scored 1 in 2 when they were established.
When you consider that he has been playing non-stop for a season already and has had to adapt to a new country and a new team, then yes it is. When you also consider he has been subbed on or off in almost every game, his total of 19 appearances probably only constitute 12-15 90 minute games, it is even more impressive.
i dont rate adebayor anyway.
pabulaventyipssfkop really isnt that great tho, be honest.
If he finishes his first season with ~20 goals then that is a pretty good achievement. I would assume he would then be pusing 25 next year when he is settled, knows the language and knows the team.
25 would be about what Keane and Berbatov were doing in all comps, maybe 15 in the league.
i realised it wasnt a bad amount. i've been trying to argue my way out of it.
he's still not very good.
Keane scored 22, 23, Berbatov 23, 23, so "pushing 25".
Pav is on for about 20 this season and there is no reason to assume he will not improve slightly next year, getting around 23.
Anyway, 20 goals a season good, 25 great, 10 a bit shit.
1) 1 game i've seen them play ever
2) their haircut
3) how skill based they are
4) how good they are at not row z-ing easy chances
but i'm going.
and i dont really care that much.
if Arsenal sign Arshevin then surely one of their current strikers will be off. Bendtner would be the obvious guess...
especially given their injuries across the middle.
I can feel it.
hasn't worked, they've been trying to accomodate Arshevin and Danny (30 million euros?!?!?!?!?!?) into the same side.
Arsenals title odds have been slashed to 2/1
His partnership with Kerzhakov was deadly. I feel someone like RVP or Eduardo could play a similar kind of Kerzhakov type role.
perhaps as the pinnacle of a 3 up front formation with RVP and Arshevin just off him?
best we've got at the mo, sure, but i'd sooner someone else
actually yes replaced. he's not our best player. our best "standing up front striker".
I'd like to see him in the Premier League, if only to see if he can adapt.
our formation is outdated
4 into 3 up front etc. Like Hleb did a bit.
you need to play with 6 in midfield, if you catch my drift.
he can interchange. RVP drops into midfield as well (look at us in Europe)
with RVP up front.
and maybe vela is being farmed out on loan also.
i suspect wenger could solve more fundamental problems.
where do you think this leaves the likes of diaby and rosicky?
Rosicky will retire before February
this will be the end of our spending?
Bendtner (which looks likely) and Gallas (pray to God) then we have money. Maybe they have opened the wallet.
you need a decent squad. if say, we sold bendernoir and adebayor and rvp get injured (likely) who we gonna call? similarly, gallas may not warrant a starting place, but you'd rather have him on the bench than jimmy youngpants
thats clear. Gallas has a detrimental effect on the team, and doesn't get on with Toure. I would rather have Toure at the club, so I would like Gallas to leave.
i wish we could put joe cole on the bench.
and sits on the bench, imagine how much he would disrupt the team! Imagine!!
it MIGHT make him "fight for his place".
either that or off to monaco in the summer
do you still rate diaby by the way?
Look at his goal against villa, the boy has talent. Just not out wide.
you still rather have him than fletcher?
our style of play
I won't compare them. Both good players, but Fletcher won't get any better, whereas Diaby will.
once wenger actually plays him in the middle, he'll be fine.
*awaits backlash from mike for suggestion fletcher has reached his peak*
but he'd be perfect for arsenalin the same way flamini was. he'd let the others play.
diaby isn't as good as the other players you have in the same position.
not great by any means. but good.
nice try eyes
I'm off home now, this has been a good end to the afternoon. Heres to Upson and Arshavin at the emirates!
but £17m seems a bit much for a relatively unproven 27-year-old. Surely what Arsenal really need a more physical, defensive midfielder anyway?
