thats my food budget (£10 with there 40% voucher).
don't waste time with cucumber rolls, just get as much fish inside you as you can.
Also, 40% off £14 leaves you with £8.40 – you can get about £16.50 worth of food for a tenner.
that i have £10 to spend. so spending £10 with the 40% off that gets me £14 worth of food right?
vikram had the right answer. 40% of £16.67 is £6.67 take it away and you have a tenner.
Divide your available funds by 3 and multiply by 5, and that's the value of the food you can get for a tenner (i.e. £16.66666666).
So if you order £16.66 worth of food, the total with 40% off will be between £9.99 and £10 exactly.
I've pretty much given up sushi since getting back from Japan. There you could pretty much fill up on kaiten-sushi for 5 or 6 quid. Is fish much more expensive here?
Er but where did you get the voucher as I am now craving sushi?
As far as cost goes, I’d imagine it’s not so much the price of the raw ingredients, more the fact there aren’t as many trained sushi chefs in this country so the skills are at a premium. Also because it’s seen as a luxury food rather than something to eat everyday, places can get away with a pretty tidy mark-up.
Haven't had sushi since I got back though. I just sometimes get annoyed that we are a country surrounded by fish and yet didn't think up piles of bits of fish as our national dish. I suppose we also have a lot of cows though.
except that the fish is usually in batter.
Then you could spend £16.60 and it would cost you £9.96.
I think I have just made you £2.60 of free Sushi.
1 edamame beans
1 california rolls (you'll need some rice to fill you up - salmon and avocado mmm)
1 salmon terayaki because it's the second best hot dish
MISO SOUP because you get endless refills
and then something you like the look of.
more sashimi and less of the beans.
i just had sushi and miso soup for lunch...yum. haven't been to yo! for quite a while though, where did you get the voucher from?
its obvious mcdonalds quality sushi, but its the best option in nottingham. sure aint no ramen kyo though :)
McDonalds quality is those places on Oxford Street where you but it in little plastic trays.
but it's not that great, there are a lot more better choices in london.
however, 40% off though! would anyone like to go for a Yo! meal these next couple of weeks???
sometime next week? (offer ends 19th jan)
this will start me off.
except miso soup
but i wouldn't really eat sushi at yo sushi.
miso soup - 1.75
chicken katsu curry - 3.70
hairy prawns - 3.70
chicken gyoza - 3.20
eel off the belt as well since they removed the takoyaki and okonomiyaki from the menu, silly people.
also gaz my brother had the same problem as you, i.e. being a massive sushi snob when he came back from japan, but places like asakusa in camden and the japan centre do great sushi. the latter is especially good at 8.30, when they give the little japanese man a megaphone and reduce prices by half.
it's fucking amazing. seriously, and it's relatively cheap too.
chicken katsu curry
spicy salad rice ting
spicy beef ting
spicy chicken ting
I don't like the non-sushi much.
stop being so critical. let me enjoy my food!
i do like proper sushi too, but i wanted hot and spicy food to help with the cold.
have names on it when it's going round the conveyor belt, or do you just have to guess?
part of the fun
(but there is a menu with pictures if you want to cheat)
i'm planning on trying it for the first time as the 40% off appeals to my student sensibilities. How do you order the hot food? Just ask them for it?
but you dont get 40% off on hot food. however tonight there was lots of hot food being put on the belt, bit of a race to get them though
is by far the best value on the menu, it's a blue plate and massive. also the pumpkin keroke is amazing. I get them two and then steal someone elses miso soup. yum.
by mistake. nice, but not what i desired
