is it me or does this sound quite dangerous/unrealistic?? http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/41872
which can charge your phone or ipod or whatever just by sitting them on it. I can't be bothered to read your link though, sorry.
it links to crappy nme news anyway, but to put it breifly there is a new wireless electricity similar to wi-fi connection. i dont fancy walking into a wireless electricity zone!
I'm still scared from those tv adverts of kids who'd go after footballs and frisbees which accidentally got stuck in substations or pylons and then get killed by electric death. Fuck that for a lark.
...and thought it surely can't be too long before it's a possibility...
And then how people will think everything with wires was so primitive and laugh at how we lived...
in addition to knowing fuck all about music, know fuck all about physics. The company in question claim to implement wireless energy transfer using infrared lasers - i.e. using a tightly focused beam (the clue is in the company name: "powerBEAM") - completely dissimilar from WiFi. So there's no question of you walking into a "wireless electricity zone" analogous to a WiFi network. Quite how these lasers will work and particularly what would happen if you were to get in the way of the beam is a different question entirely. The powerbeam website suggests that if a human or animal got in the way of the beam, it would safely shut off. Which to me seems even less practical than having a wire. But there you go.
I don't have a clue why I've written so much about this, but to paraphrase Alan Partridge "STOP GETTING PHYSICS WRONG"
