Think Quadrophenia. Mod...without being Top Shop Mod.
Abit like Eddie's suit in Bottom.
Any ideas of pricing?
In this country you're looking at about £300, probably (including a shirt)
Have you looked at vintage shops or some of the off-the-peg suits - many places will do a 'mod'-style suit that's a cut above the Top Man examples.
I take a Medium...but my arms are Large. So it's hard to find suits that fit.
Well, if you can't find one in any vintage/charity shops, then http://www.asuitthatfits.com/shop/index.php?option=com_landingpage&landingid=6 might be your best bet.
just fish around charity shops
P.s. I'm thinking along the lines of Charlies brown suit. Didn't he get that from Sherrys?
don't go there though
I'd do it if I was rich.
As it is, I don't have that sort of money to spend, so I 'customise'. I found myself a high-buttoning jacket that fits like a dream and I wear it with trousers I can pull it off with. It's grey, so I wear it with black pants, or dark grey ones.
As for pants, I buy them from anywhere and take them to girls that can sew and ask em to take them in to 6.5" on the lower leg.
Got some sexilicious brown brogues but I tend to wear beatle boots with suits. But I'm not a mod so don't listen to me.
PS. Quadrophenia is one of the worst films of all time. Most of it's hugely inaccurate and is just a romanticising self-wankover of the Who.
2009 Resolution: To dress better
is probably the most amazing example of missing the point I've ever read.
The only reason I don't like it is because it got it all wrong; not because the script, soundtrack and plot all smell of rotting cheddar.
It's nostalgia gone bad. It's The Who telling us kidz what it was like in their day, but fucking everything up by generally just making a dire dire film.
I could write an essay on why it blows anus but yeah, it's just cos most of it is hugely inaccurate.
i might get a decent suit then
If you're good, I'll buy you a bag of Tots.
It'd be pretty tough to alter shoulder cuts, lapels and vents on an already-made suit.
It was pretty shoddy though...
it looks alright. Never tried it though.
on Whiteman Road, London N4 - he'll do a decent suit for a couple of hundred, the price going up the more detail, or the more expensive the cloth.
I wan't to gain a little knowledge so I know what I'm asking for
