mp3s suck anyway, no point in them taking up loads of space on my ipod.
if i want to listen to it properly i'll listen to it on my stereo
if they're encoded properly, e.g V0
they still suck.
you dont get anything else for a single track over at dubstepforum because if you try and DJ them out on a big system at anything less it just sounds liek shit.
But for listening at home I'm not reall that fussed
If they were that bothered surely they should go for FLAC?
everyone and their dog can do it really quick and easy. I don't really know what you have to do to make a FLAC on ya home computer. Alot of dubstep producers are still just using fruity loops anyway heheh.
you can buy FLAC of most releses mind.
and more people listen to mp3 than FLAC so it gets to a bigger audiance
but people underestimate the importance of the encoder used. a 320kb mp3 encoded in itunes uses a dated mp3 encoder, and so will likely sound worse than a lower bitrate mp3 encoded with lame.
I dunno how experianced alot of these peeps are, I thin alot of um just do it because everyone else does and now people kind of as for it.
because i can tell the difference
i just like sound
I'm personally going buy a record player and start buying vinyl. I'm going off this mp3 jazz...
But then again the people who run those sites don't seem to have much of a life so...
makes me throw up
i hate 128. i can hear the clipping on my new headphones so much that my older stuff that i coded before i got them make me cringe. if my ipohone knew what a flac was i'd use that though.
i know you can put .wav files on iPods, not sure how they compare in terms of filesize to Flac but they're a similiarly perfect copy
And the quality difference is not that noticeable, if at all.
and there is no quality difference
but 128kbps vs lossless is a BIG difference
256s and in some cases 192s can still sound just as good as say a brand new remastered CD on CDJs on a good club system. Literally no discernible difference whatsoever. Especially tunes form your 2000 ish era onwards.
its just kinda what they do
but then you get systems like this to play on at the big dubstep nights
and thats just one of the small ones in the second room at some nights heheh
a good quality mp3 might even sound better than an old record mind which is what is used the most I guess.
No point wasting it on old blues and punk stuff with anything over 128 really.
it makes everything sound like it's underwater. I don't understand how one can't be bothered by that.
Silly underwater music loving people.
now, real audio sounds like fishtank sounds.
the only thing i really find suffers beyond listenable at 128 are acoustic guitars.
but then if i'm listening on earphones using my ipod, does it reallllly matter?
I have maybe once or twice in my life noticed the quality of an MP3 over just listening to the music. There's so much variation in speakers, 'phones, background noise, vinyl hiss/pop etc that sound quality just doesn't bother me.
But then I listen to tapes while cooking.
but it's a bit silly. i do notice the difference when i listen for it, but i still enjoy lesser encoded stuff just as much.
