Finally come around. Pretty nervous to be honest. If i don't get a category 1 i will be majorly pissed off.
Do you have to go to sandhurst?
cat.1 is exactly what they're looking for
cat.2 maybe need to work on fitness/mental apptitude/maturity and you are instruced to return and try again between 6-24 months
cat.3. Strongly recommended to not try again (although it is possible)
cat.4. Never speak of this again
for me that would be after university
where I grew up. It's pretty lame, but might be alright if you get to carry a gun.
and i've been to sandhurst for a three day trip once before...the academy itself is AMAZING!
and I used to wonder why I never saw any guard dogs patrolling like the signs on the perimeter said. Are all the facilites on that site or do they use any of the bits round Aldershot way?
The two main buildings (old college - the beautiful white one) and new college (the other one) which is where the officer cadets stay. It's an extensive ground you're quite right..i've run around it a couple of times. They do pretty much have everything there as they would have to, but they will more than definitely use military training grounds for exercises and other such things.
on different exercises but most of it is on site.
apparently during foot & mouth they were able to do all their training without leaving the academy
but i bet they were restricted with some things they could do....ie most of the Officer cadets will know the grounds thoroughly so that can thwart many exercise plans
and it's nicer than the grounds of buckingham palace
the chapel is really intense - all the walls, pillars, pews and even parts of the floor are engraved with the names of officers who've died and the wars they died in.
imagine a really big country manor house, with some other equally good buildings around it
it's pretty much the same as the one we had on our grounds at school, it's just a military chapel. Although they have a nice little annex bit with 'Dulce et decorum est' written above it which is quite nice.
It's pretty much tradition for military chapels to have their colours hung up and tablets with names of conflics and the names of those who died on it.
much nicer, world than the road through Camberley the main entrance is on.
when i was there to see my brother they were awarding a tightest millionaire prize and had an auction where every item went for more than my monthly wage.
Which one's the main entrance?
If you don't get cat 1, they'll never let you be majorly pissed off.
Results out Next Thursday
but privately colonel.
they told him, "You'll never be in the field, Marshall."
