Let me set the scene...Christmas eve, 8ish, my uncle and I are sat at the kitchen table. I get up to get a Corona out of the fridge. I open it, cut up and lime and push it down the neck of the bottle.
My uncle goes

'I met the man who invented the idea of putting lime in Corona'

I was like
'UH NO, what do you mean 'invented'!!!11!! they put lime in it in Mexico, its like uhh a mexican thing'

He explained that in the 80s when they first brought corona over to the UK they needed some kind of gimmick to go with it, so a man was hired to think of one and he came up with the idea that you had to put a lime down the next of the bottle.
As a firm believer that the lime was what the mexicans did I was outraged and almost upset.
So there you go. The lime was an 80s gimmick.

You probably all knew this. Oh well
