whats going on?
' What worries me is that once Fox gets their grubby little hands on the movie, they will cut it down to a PG-13, and they will chop off 30 minutes of the running time to make it "commercially friendly." '
and they've changed the plot
and they're not including the black freighter
and it's Zack Snyder who made three-arsing-hundred
The black freighter is being released as a DVD the week of it's release as I understand it. Then at some
Point it will be included in a dull version at somepoint. But the plot has not been changed that much... I think it will be as close an adaptation that we couldve expected.
This iPhone is rubbish to use on the Internet.
but it still managed to lose the spirit of the piece
Your problem seems to be that you're expecting a two hour film to have exactly the same kind of emotional impact and artistic direction as the comic - but the problem with that is that if this were the case, the film would actually be a comic.
Approach the film as a film that may have some similarities to a comic book you once read and all the tension and stress will just melt away.
For the record: 300 was amazing.
while still changing them quite drastically from the source material.
the X-Men and recent Batman films were both quite radically different to the adventures you'll find in either titles main ongoing series yet managed to keep the feel and characterisation more or less right.
and probably to be repackaged with the feature to try and stump double money out of fanboys after a few months
they were going to shoot it in ugly 300/sincity vision but in the end it's going to be a cartoon
an interviews with the minutemen and stuff i think
like i said above it's not like Warner were going to release a grim gritty version with a pervading sense of impending violence doom and depression pervading the whole thing and Fox are going to turn it into a bright tacky smiley heap of cack like the JLA live action TV movie.
but, if I was to be optimistic, I can say for certain it'll be a lot better than the upcoming live action Dragon Ball film...
how cold that be anything other than cack?
Have you seen the trailers? It doesn't even look that bad its funny - it just looks plain bad.
Watchmen, however, just looks like it'll miss the point of the source material and'll end up completely misguided - won't stop it being a good film in its own right, I guess, but I don't hold out hope.
it is a lot more complicated than the MEN WIMIN FIGHTING GRRR tales of violent misogyny that every comic book readers favourite reactionary right-winger Miller specialises in.
