Leaving us with a central midfield of Song and Denilson
We're actually fucked
I'm sure the likelihood reduces as more players go out of action.
..with a Tottenham fan, this might have been a bad idea. I said that Villa would suffer from burn out in the last third of the season because they play all the same players week in, week out. I was pretty confindent, not so sure now.
Thanks for ruining Christmas.
but still not "definite"
If he doesn't, after also failing to spot the glaring gap in the middle back in the summer, then it has to go down as his biggest failure as Arsenal manager. I'm like a broken record with this, but I seem to remember a fair few people saying at the start of the season "if Fabregas gets injured at all, we're completely screwed". And now he's out for almost the rest of the season. Great!
Arsenal - next year guys.
PLEASE WIN THE FUCKING LEAGUE NOW
was he as much of a shit biscuit for you guys as he was for us?
Portsmouth made a nice profit on him though.
Much like we did with Bentley. SO FUCKING SPEND IT THEN
He said he needed first team football to get in the Euro 2008 squad, and at that point Flamini was playing out of his skin. Problem is, we took it on trust that Flamini would sign a new deal, and waited for ages before offering him one. By the time we did, it had got to like, February or something, and he quite understandably decided to consider his options. Considering we were on the verge of selling him to Birmingham the summer before, I can't really blame him for taking a move to Milan
So that's Diarra gone, Flamini out on a free, and we also sold Gilberto. Whatever people say about Gilberto's age/form, he's ten times a more reliable option than Denilson or Song have proven to be. They're squad players, nothing more. It actually beggars belief that we didn't attempt to replace those three players in the summer (I'm discounting the 17 year old Ramsey, and Bischoff, who's yet to make it out of the reserves). Anyone with half a brain was screaming out for us to sign a central midfielder in the summer, we didn't, we've been shit, and now Fabregas is out for ages. The only positive is that this Fabregas injury didn't happen further away from the transfer window. But of course, that's completely dependant on Wenger actually realising that the remaining options he has just aren't good enough
I'd say we need two midfielders now, and possibly a centre back too
No, he wouldn't. He's 'good', but nowhere near good enough to be a first team player for Arsenal. It's a joke that it's got to this stage. As I say, in my opinion he's a squad player
We're putting the development of our young players over the success of the first team
By and large, Wenger's approach is successful. I love it as much as anybody else when a young player comes through. But Song and Denilson, regularly playing first team football for us? Come on, it's blatantly clear that they're not good enough yet. We have been quite unlucky with injuries in the midfield (Rosicky, Walcott, Nasri in and out the team and even Eboue), but for us to be playing with players like Diaby and Denilson out wide just isn't good enough. There isn't the strength in depth to cope with injuries. But injuries and suspensions happen, all clubs have to deal with them, so you can't hope you go throughout a whole season not getting any
Say if Nasri gets injured again in the next couple of games (which is likely), this will be our midfield going into the toughest period of the season:
Diaby - Song - Denilson - Eboue
I feel a little bit sad for you lot. In an ideal world Chelsea would drop out of the top 4 to be replaced by villa, but looks like it'll be you instead....
I hate them as a human being.
Fowler was an utter cunt aswell
That would be Forest, or even Southend
Sure as fuck wasn't Liverpool - that was the beginning of the end.
It would be safe to go to European games for a start.
lets see if we can break the "^this" record. We can get at least 20 I reckon (from different posters)
He looks like that kind of man.
although they probably were anyway. As I'm increasingly doubtful that Chelsea won't descend into acrimonious chaos, I find myself willing Man Utd to beat the scouse scum. It would be fine if Villa did it, but I just don't think that they are consistent enough.
dont write us off just yet - remember at the start of last season? "spurs will come 4th". did they fuck? this season: "without flamini arsenal will be shit". we didnt start off badly tho did we?
WE ARE STILL IN THE C LEAGUE
WE ARE STILL IN THE FAMOUS CUP
WE ARE ONLY A FEW POINTS OF LIVERPOOL WHO WILL TURN SHIT IN JANUARY
best with our backs to wall?
p.s. please can we buy tevez
I think 4th will be majorly affected by friday - villa win puts them 6 points ahead with a superior goal difference, plus te confidence after winning a big pressure game, plus better position to sign a couple of players.
I think Villa'll bottle it though :(
time Fabregas calls this
Hopefully your paranoid delusional manager won't buy anyone in January either, then blame it on the referees having a conspiracy against Arsenal when you you win nowt. Again.
see, there's always some comfort in supporting Arsenal when your rivals are so rubbish.
and then get injured again and be out for years yeah?
also, who's going to play one diaby gets injured again?
That'll be one hell of a hangover...
Obviously it's a big downer for us, but I love how we've become to used to success that going a few seasons without a trophy and/or finishing outside the top four for the first time in 12 years means we're 'fucked' - frankly we've been bloody privileged to be supporting the team during this time. My Dad had to watch us win one trophy in 16 years at one point. And let's face it we could support Charlton, or Forest, or Leeds or even Luton or Oxford United (dropping from top-flight to non-league in just over 20 years!). It is adding to a very frustrating season, but in the end, I have to be thankful for what I have seen. And we're not finished just yet, we just have to see what happens.
on the plus side though, Bendtner said he'll leave if he doesnt get first team football. Hoo-flippin-ray!
Some talk today of us signing Arshavin, which with Fab out is looking more likely than it did in the summer. We will definitely need a midfield enforcer aswell though. Arsene, Veloso is absolutely killer on FM? ;o)
Season over then.
Never mind the FA Cup or European Cup eh?
And yes I realise our chances of winning either were not great to start with, and are reduced further now, but 'lol season over then' is a load of old rubbish.
FA Cup consolation prize surely. Arsenal's squad is not strong enough for any injuries never mind your best player, what 12 year old will come in now.
First the League Cup became irrelevant, now the FA Cup isn't sufficient either? Does that mean I can poke fun at Chelsea for 'only' winning those two over the last two seasons? I don't see how the FA Cup is a consolation prize frankly.
There's always a chance of either trophy, it's not great but it's there. We're currently 5th, we're not Manchester City.
There are always two major trophies, your league and Europe all the others are not up too much. Would you be happy just winning a domestic cup each year? Not saying your team is shit, just that your not going to win anything. Also Man City are going to buy shit players for too much money in January and Hughes will be out by March. You better watch out for Hull they are only four points behind.
