Mostly the pink/purple ones.
The vivid colours come from cross processing slide film.
Which, if you're not familiar with (sorry to patronise if you are familiar) is when you shoot on slide film and get the lab to develop it as if it's normal colour film. Voila, strange and vivid colours.
I should put some more Gameboy ones up, I have quite a few more.
They're a pian in the arse to get onto my laptop. I have to put the Camera cartridge through Super Gameboy on the Super NES, get the pics up on the TV screen. Then photograph the TV screen with a digital camera etc...
Link me to your flickr please! Would like to see your pics.
You're getting a Smena 8M? They're great cameras, quite flimsy though. Mine is borderline working, though it's taken a back seat to the Trip lately. Man, I love the Trip. I toyed with the idea of an LC-A for AGES but couldn't justify the money in the end. I like the fact that if my Trip fucks up then the most it will cost for another one is about 20quid.
They're not a million miles from each other really though.
And I got the Lc-a cheap from a friend who worked for Lomography in Vienna. I do think they are a rip off. You can pick up an old one on ebay for cheap though. Or just get an Olympus XA2.
As far as I know they're one of the most common cameras from Russia.
I think they were THE mass produced afforable camera back in the 35mm days.
I got mine from a flea market in Krakow. When i first saw it I went 'ooh wow a Smena 8M', bought it, then saw tons of the fuckers on everyone elses stalls! Oh well. There's a lot of them about.
they usually get your prints back within 48 hours!
http://www.spectrumimaging.co.uk/photo.htm Amongst that awful website is a printable order form.
I think it's about 6quid from 6x4 prints from x-pro slide film including postage.
All my colour stuff goes through them. They specialise in x-pro.
in town here but i can't afford any of them at the moment... i really like the look that they give photographs that you lose with crystal clear digital images
have a fridge stuffed with films to use but finding it difficult to find the time to do so. Getting black and white films processed seems to be a problem now too
I can't afford to get them all dev'd shamefully at the moment though! When I'm shooting film I use my contax/zeiss combo or my voightlander rangefinder. I have been walking around the east end with my smena symbol of late though which is fun. I don't get to use my digital kit as much because I can't afford for it to get nicked. I only use it for photoshoots, events and gigs.
Infact I'm shooting some motocross over the xmas period!
If you want a nice compact camera get a olympus XA. lomography is a market experiment started by a bunch of marketing students that has gone off without a hitch.
The ideal of lomography has been around for years and years. Never leave the house without a camera is something Cartier-Bresson pioneered!
I need to scan and upload what I've got, loads of old photos I've taken lying around that I really like. Scrambling around taking photos is pretty much my favourite thing to do
yeah

I use a 1 pixel camera

Oh, and a Gameboy Camera.
Gameboy Camera? Amazing!
I use a Trip, and have a Smena coming in the post. Mostly a Lc-a man, though.
Also, did you use a coloursplash flash with the Smena?
Or does it always give such vivid colours?
There are a couple of coloursplash shots yes.
Mostly the pink/purple ones.
The vivid colours come from cross processing slide film.

lc-a+ and vivitar wide and slim mostly.
not used the wide and slim
how does it compare to the lc-a?
well
it's just a plastic box. you can't control anything, but you get awesome photos, especially with slide film on a sunny day.
it took me a while to get used to the zone focus on the lc-a. but i took some photos recently and they were fricking excellent. i must upload them.
Cool!

a friend is sending one from Turkmenistan
I think it's an original Soviet. Do they reproduce them?
My flickr: http://www.flickr.com/heartbeeps
Also, I'm using my dad's Trip, but haven't got anything developed from it yet.
And I got the Lc-a cheap from a friend who worked for Lomography in Vienna. I do think they are a rip off. You can pick up an old one on ebay for cheap though. Or just get an Olympus XA2.
It will be original Soviet

Sweet
I was in Lviv and they had a huge antiques market with thousands of cameras, but I wasn't into film cameras and didnt buy any. fail.
I did buy a Kodak Brownie Model 1 in Mumbai though. Currently got some 35mm Colour Slide film in, which should be interesting.
Great stuff
I need that cardigan. More so if it's a brown/orange one.

CHEAP PROCESSING
Anyone? Boots is a rip off, as is Snappy Snaps.
never had any problems with tesco, tbh.
and it's what, two pounds something for a three-day service? i've had better service there than from boots too.
is that for a set of prints, or just the processing?
processing and prints.
though i think you can get just a contact sheet for a pound or something? you have to hassle them to get it though.
i'll give it a go.
though i've never seen a photo section in any tesco i've been in. weird.
I've heard there is a guy in brick lane area that does a simple dev only for very cheap
I personally don't use prints very often. I shoot film it gets scanned it goes on flickr. Done
here's photos of the two film cameras I use
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cadd/2968013814

I still shot alot of film

Lomography is pretty great for interesting analogue cameras, but they can be a bit pricey - http://www.lomography.com/
Lomo = rip off

*rant rant*
yeah, but rarely now as developing them is so expensive
