Its been a long time since i was last scared by a film any suggestions?
freaked me out quite a bit.
as do zombie films in general - dawn of the dead, etc.
The Haunting (original version) is quite scary also.
the original ring is pretty freaky. And the film magic with Tony Hopkins while not the scariest is really really creepy!
the orphanage was pretty scary in the cinema
yeah that too. the bathroom bit? urrrrrgh
And the bit with the girl caught in the painting.
The Mist really affected me. I love that film.
makes me look away everytime
I was very impressed.
Visisble gore, implied gore, repeated shocks, building tension (with release) or something else entirely.
had some shiver-inducing moments in it. The bit where the guy realises why his neck hurts especially.
It absolutely terrified me as a child.
Recently, The Strangers was quite creepy.
for psychological stuff I'd definitely say Don't Look Now, otherwise the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
for modern horror Wolf Creek and [rec] were pretty effective, but they really don't match up to the greats.
stayed with me for AGES. and the original The Vanishing.
To be watched on your own, in the dark.
scarier than most 'horror' films, cos to me the idea of being locked up in a mental institution and having my brain fried by electrolysis is pretty much the scariest thing ever.
how could I forget this scene from Mulholland Drive?!
fucks me up every single time
Avoid the awful remake (by the same director though!)
the hills have eyes remake is pretty harrowing rather than scary
LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND
THE TERMINATOR IS OUT THERE
IT CANNOT BE BARGAINED WITH
IT CANNOT BE REASONED WITH
IT DOESN'T FEEL PITY
AND IT ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STOP
UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD
and I own some vile material. Desensitisation and all that.
Films have disturbed me but that's usually documentaries or the rare something that is emotionally harrowing.
The film that scared me a lot as a child was Young Sherlock Holmes, so much so that I am almost scared to go back to it. So try that. Cowled monks, cults and suicide-leading hallucinogens wrapped up in a kid's film. eek
that shat me up a bit.
Last fictional video to give me the willies was that bit in the rock where Nic Cage makes the bad army dude eat the VX gas ball, and his face melts. I was only 12 though to be fair
British film that came out last year. Not scary per se but harrowing, contains horrific violence and extremely tense. And superbly made.
easily one of the best films this year if you like horror.
but ive just ordered it off Amazon. I've heard good things.
some highlights include jeepers creepers, the original ring and the original psycho. i was also scared by the green mile, although i did watch it for the first time when i was about ten or eleven. same with psycho.
The fucked up noises outside when theyre in the tent? No thanks
I'm not even joking either. I had a fear of him as a kid, and whenever he pops up on an advert on TV or in a magazine, it still scares me.
you massive ET fearing gaylord
and piss off
so if it's too big for me (as it's probably L or XL) then you can have it.
you are a scholar and a gentleman. You coming to the pub/Home alone tonight?
was genuinely creepy but I don't think it's available anywhere these days.
Watched [rec] the other day and my girlfriend bit my hand in fright, which was especially disconcerting considering the subject matter. Didn't think it was that scary myself, though
