let me out of london for less than £32.30 one way you money grabbing shits.
and flying is limited; they have you by the balls.
Also the price of fuel has gone down yet neither bus nor train fairs have gone down?
i hate you train folk!
there's no VAT on public transport for a start.
But that involved buying in advance, with a YPR and not actually paying for a return but using an old open return that hadn't been clicked.
I don't mind paying more for trains, cos travelling long distances by train is so fantastic. I think i am happiest when on trains or at train stations waiting for trains.
you would love my life right now, i do this probably 3/5 days per working week. And occasionally at weekends too.
if trains still had drawing rooms, drinks cars and little rooms off corridors rather than the shittyness we have now.
even though i wasn't alive to experience it.
I used to love going to old steam railways as a boy.
It would be cheaper right now if they hadent been
or are you just very wrong?
I just have a massive boner for trains.
AAAAAALL THE PEEEOPPLLEEE
walking through a moving train is one of my nightmares, I always end nearly falling on people, accidently knocking people, and once actually falling onto a middle aged man's lap. :(
except it was a creepy turkish man :(
It's not particularly hard to work out.
It's a fucking huge long car, right, but it runs on RAILS real fast and there's kajillions of miles of rails and so many different trains all going fast like bullets to anywhere in the WORLD.
It's AMAZING that kind of thing happens, you should feel priveliged rather than indignant that they let you take part in this behemothic human achievement for a relatively small fee.
i mean i know there are reasons for this but it still stands
and train/tube fares were similar but the exchange rate didn't help.
You're still using the train the same amount, albeit at a different time.
a 20 minute each way-return journey should not cost me £4 at peak time. I'd understand the price if they at least justified it with decent service and trains that were built later than the early eighties :(
By far and away the best way to travel, buses suck in comparison.
The rail infructure in the UK needs massive amounts of repair work done it to as well, so hopefully some of our fairs are going to that. I doubt it...
The are lots of ways to get cheaper fares
I for one only have to pay £3 to travel up to London, its all about finding the cheapest times and choosing the trains you can make and booking them in advance, more often then not you save at LEAST 33% where as luckily for me with my regular visits to london i save around 70% cause i'm FUCKIN awesome (anyone can save that much on that journey) basically book in advance, choose the trains you can make and go for it, u loose the freedom say if u wake up in an abyss and hungover but you save a lot of money if you KNOW you can make it.
So in short London to Brighto really only should cost u £3 and visa versa and its true for many other destinations relativly close
I get free rail travel. It's one of the best things in my life.
I just wish trains ran later into the night.
for no less than a year, there were engineering works all weekend every weekend, meaning that you one portion of the journey was always by bus, usually from london to Colchester, or Colchester to Ipswich, which basically adds about 90 minutes or more on to the journey. I paid full price for this journey so many times, about £30, and I am still raging about it now.
I don't believe even Thatcher was stupid enough to think privatising the railways was a good idea.
