From here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inbreeding#Inbreeding_in_humans
The general view of inbreeding is that it produces obviously deformed and ugly results but I think this shows you have to go quite a way before that sort of thing occurs. Royals still look pretty good given how much they've been at each other.
Its not about aestheticism, its about narrowing the gene pool and variation. You see, if everyone has similar genes, then one virus, or mutation or diease could take em all out, If the genes are combined from very different sources, you increase the potanital of introducing a specific effect that could withstand environmental pressures.
My genetics lecturer once made the accusation that particular cultures and nations indulge in inbreeding, he got so many emails of compliant that he had to apologise in the next lecture.
Oh he named
He named good.
the thread title reminded me of how my family bush.
my younger brother is 15, oldest cousin is in her 50s. I also have a cousin who is 18, 7 years my junior. and my sister is old enough to be my younger brother's mum and my aunties are both old enough to easily be my grandmothers.
As it is I'm just going to ask you to repeat that. In English. Whoops, I did it anyway. Sorry.
