Would you still listen to your favourite musician if they did something unspeakably horrible?

olegrich [Edit] [Delete] 10:27, 17 December '08

and I'm not talking 'Rudebox' here....

I got 'Viva La Raza: the eddie Guerrero legacy' through the post yesterday, and with every WWE DVD release over the last year, there is no mention at all of Chris Benoit. Benoit, who was a close friend of Guerrero, commited suicide after killing both his wife and young son, in what many believe to be a 'roid rage' incident.

Since then, a large majority of wrestling fans have boycotted even mentioning his name, let alone watching his old matches, due to the atrocious actions leading towards his death. And Benoit was genuinely one of the greatest of all time.

Which got me to thinking, if my favourite musician were to have done something like that, would I still be able to listen to them? If Nick Cave were to kill his wife and kids (as an example, no libellous intention here), would you be able to look past it and appreciate his genius? Or would you never be able to listen to him again?

Thoughts please.....
