Dog Names

Rose-Kitten [Edit] [Delete] 39 replies 09:28, 15 December '08

MOOOOOOOOOOORNING!

I'm getting a dog in the new year and would like you help me please and put forth some good names for a lady dog please. I'm now thinking about a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel but was formerly on a Mini Dachshund roll (and her name would be Gretl, I think).

Thanks.

  • Get a Beagle, Rose

    I love beagles

    • Oh so do I... but in terms of breed, I don't have enough space. I have a smallish London yard

that will work for a smaller dog.
Beagles are also VERY yappy and I can't have a yappy dog - it's not in my nature to own something like that.
Beagles are fantastic - I love all dogs in the hound group

      :)

      • Are beagles yappy in comparison to King Charles spaniels and dachshunds?

Remember, the name needs to be something that you’ll feel comfortable shouting across a park.

        Sadpunk.

        • CKCSpaniels are not as yappy. Mini Dachshunds are very yappy which is why I am reconsidering

the breed option... In fact, after chatting to my mother today who confirmed it (she had one), I'd say those darned hot dogs are out.

The KCSpaniels are brilliant. DID YOU KNOW that King Charles passed a law stating that they were allowed to be taken into ANY public place as he loved them so much and was never seperated from them) and the law is still in place today - they can even be taken into the Houses of Parliament. I am SO going to do that if I get one. Brilliant.

  • All dogs should be minature

can you get a midget beagle?

    yo_soy_welshmun @wishpig | 15 Dec '08, 10:59 | X
    • hey wishpig...

I do like schanuzers - I used to know of one called Ferdinand.

Just reading about CKCSpaniels... and yeah, they are the Kings of defects, that's for sure. I do want a pure breed though and will be investigating and am considering asking breeders who do the MRI scanning (yeah, TOTAL MEGA BUCKS) but that would save on vets bills later on.

I bet pet insurance doesn't even cover those dogs. If it isn't a bloody heart murmour that will get it, it's Syringomyelia or Hip Dysplasia... Hmmm.....

I just found out my sister in Oz got one recently - I had no idea. I might get her advice as she's a bit of an animal whisperer...

And I do intend on training it and so on as it will be with me pretty much constantly and want a well behaved dog.

      (so excited)..

      • I want one now! I can't afford one now and am pretty much certain I'll be getting one

for my bday in May this year... just in time for summer etc.

Whoop! You can come visit it in London ;-)

          • I knew a Blue Heeler in Australia called Dog.

Funny. Dog was a good dog.
            Ha.

I also knew of two black cats called DOOM and GLOOM and it was very funny when their eccentric photographer owner would call them when they escaped and he'd be calling for them. Ha.

What's in a name..? Back to the drawing board.
