Quite a weekend in the Premier League with none of the "big" four managing to collect three points, Sunderland and Wigan managing to thump some fellow strugglers and Newcastle putting on a strong second half show at Fratton Park to beat Porstmouth 3-0. IMO some decent football and good performances was overshadowed by some pretty bad refereeing and gamesmanship in at least 3 or 4 of the top flight fixtures though.
Charlton take on Derby tonight in the Championship knowing that 3 points are vital, especially considering their fellow strugglers (Doncaster, Forest, Southampton etc) all lost at the weekend. Cardiff boss Dave Jones says Joe Ledley's agent should not have suggested the midfielder will probably leave Cardiff on a free transfer.
The backpages are all fairly convinced that Paul Ince won't last the week at Blackburn and pretty much every name linked with Sunderland is now being tipped to take the job. Adriano will be allowed to leave Inter Milan in January, with Scolari hoping to arrange a loan deal for the striker. Tottenham have made an £8m offer for Bordeaux striker Fernando Cavenaghi, Man City have stepped up their swoop for Roque Santa Cruz and Celtic have beaten AC Milan to the signing of teenage Czech Republic star Milan Misun, who will arrive from FK Pribram in January. Owen has given Newcastle fans hope by saying he will at least talk about a new contract at the club...
