I FUCKING HATE YOU SMUG, LYING TWATS
for my attempt to scam a replacement iPod out of them today..
Apple are shit!
apart from ipods which I like but still break quite a bit.
Fed up of smug mac users who seem to think its better than windows but yet cant give a good reason why apart from that they look nicer.
Im not saying that macs dont have some advantages over windows, but they aint all dat.
that's enough for me. I WANT MY MAC DAMNIT.
theres just not THAT many about so you hear less horror stories.
my best mates mac died randomly twice within 3 months.
My VAIO's been knocked about and dragged round four continents and it's still going fine. A VAIO will cost you as much as a MacBook or similar setup.
There's a lot of cheap shit out there in the PC market.
that there are so many third party parts in a pc that there is always more conflict (illegal bloody opperations). As Apple make a lot of the stuff in house you get a more reliable machhine. Plus i prefer logic pro than other audio software.
You get them replaced but building your own PC is neither as cheap as it was nor as easy as some might imagine.
after a few months they are so much slower than new, they dont take care of themselves and the registry ends up being a mess and that seems to be the fault of windows rather than cheap pc's, unless you are an expert it is really hard to keep a pc running well, macs dont seem to have that problem at all
bascailly I have a 1,700 piece of turd in my bag now...
os x crashed and the hd is unbootable...thing is shop never gave me the leopard disc...it was already installed..but hey gave me the old operatign system and didn;t put i nteh 'upgrade' disk.
I didn;t realise until now, and the fuckers don't believe me, so they won;t give me a disk.
Thing is, I can't just buy leopard, because you need the drivers for the macbook, but they don't believe me when I say I never had them i nthe first place...
ok I've worked myself up again now..
I sort of get it. But shouldn't the Genius Lounge just sort all that out? Why won't they give you the drivers if you buy Leopard there and then?
the drivers are on a seperate disk...if you lose them you have to pay fpr the whole disk set again
and nobody believes me.
I wouldn't use a mac if you gave me it for free and paid me to use it.
i always said that. and then someone DID give me one for free and pay me to use it.
and now i like it, but have had untold problems with it. and yet cannot bear to go back to clunky windows. sigh.
wedged thoroughly between the devil and the deep blue sea, so i am.
I'M A PC
the original macbook died.
the next macbook ran so slowly it was unuseable.
the pro has lasted me two years, and has seen three or four replaced batteries, three replaced power adaptors, two replaced I/O boards, extra memory because it couldn't seem to cope on what it came with [perhaps, apple, you should supply enough memory with your computers to efficiently run the programs you install on them? hmm??] and approximately 3,062,936,206 hours spent perched on one of those stools at the genius bar, sighing unhappily.
at present it is running ok, though it did randomly crash last night.
staunchino - windows is clunky. i have used it since the days of windows 3.0, and liked many things about it, but it is kind of messy, and many things went wrong. however, the difference between apple and windows is that when windows things went wrong [e.g. DLL files randomly stopped working, drivers went awol, programs behaved erratically], i could still use my computer - everything else worked. when apple things go wrong, the whole machine is fucked until the problem is fixed.
maybe i should get an abacus and glue it to a notepad cleverly inserted into the side of an encyclopedia. perhaps that would fulfil all my information technology needs.
But it seems worse because you're used to old windows so you have to relearn.
The new search is fucking ace, though. Press start and then just type into the search box to pull up all the programs that match the name - no more hunting through trees of menus. And searching for files is pretty much instant now.
Windows are playing catch up.
what i want next is a clever clever itunes facility which can somehow correctly hear, identify and store all the lyrics of every song you own, so that when you search for a lyric it pulls up every matching song in your library. that would be quite good. yes, apple? yes. you can do it, chaps. thankyouplease!
And it's neither here nor there whether it's been standard in OSX for donkey's years, is it? The comment was about Windows as an OS really.
I think Windows Vista is pretty much the worst thing to happen to a computer. It's shit, slow, unreliable and needlessly nannying. But hey, I can understand why some people don't like Macs. I've never had any issues with my mac, and when I have, it's been physical stuff covered by my glorious three year warranty.
Only thing is, they do love to rip you off if you don't have your kit under warranty. No doubt about that.
It's XP with a better search function and a better handling of external USB devices. I've turned off UAC but only because I run some old programs that will never be updated. UAC has been pretty much sorted out, however, with programs being updated to no longer attempt to run under administrator priviliges, meaning it doesn't need to nanny you so much.
Anyway, the new Windows will be to Vista what XP was to 2000. People basically said the same sorts of things about XP when it first came out that they are now about Vista. No one wanted to upgrade no one thought it did anything different but now the story is very different and people are loathe to change. Meh.
OSX is clearly a large pair dog's danglies, though.
It's simple, easy to use, very crash resistant and a good deal of stuff you can alter/play around with if you have the knowhow. No problems there.
As in it's shit hot.
Not that I have any real need for it, hence why I'm happy with my PC>
doesn't cover your restore disks...which you have to pay full retail price for replacing. No pc laptop manufacturer charges the full retail price of VISTA to replace their restore disks for you.
so you'd think they'd just give you the OS for free, pretty much.
I need the SPECIFIC driver disks...which costs teh same as the retail but is crippled..i.e doesn't have the applications that come with the retail
I will never use vista...so far my machines are vista free...1 win98 workstation, two ubuntu desktops and an XP laptop!
big lots of ouch
has anyone bought a macbook(pro) last year that came with a leapord dvd 'drop in' ahem..ahem...
(please some kind soul say yes)
i hate that it costs something like £50 or £80 [it seems to fluctuate] for a new power adaptor. i hate that the applecare helpline guys will tell you 'no, we can't fix that. you'll have to buy a new one.' to every problem, when the guys instore will tell you 'yep, we'll have it back to you in two days, good as new' [to their credit the genius guys have, mostly, been very helpful, especially the white city ones - gave me some free applecare for all my long-term apple trouble]. and i hate the fact that you get tied into their support when you buy their product [unless you're very lucky and never run into problems] - it's as though you're leasing rather than buying it, and have to keep forking money out to keep it running.
they make beautiful products but the quality is not always what it should be, and one is frequently met with apple evangelism from one quarter or another on pointing this out.
Thankfully, it's covered under warranties. The guys in the shops know about the problems with those overheating and shorting out too, and they're really sympathetic about it, and just as frustrated. Similar issues with cracks in Macbook casing and the stupidly loud and noisy CD drives.
But that said, I would never go to Windows again now.
to prevents cracks and scratches..instead it scratched the fuck out of the case...it looks like a cat has been at it
i saw someone onstage once with a red macbook, and now i know how they did it.
but if yo ubu yone expect never to take it off because you will probably crack your screen if you do.
It does protect against nocks and on a macbook it is fine..but it basically shreds aluminium macbook pros
it did look quite tempting!
got this job and they got me the new iMac and are paying me to use it all day, its a pretty sweet deal!
though i'll admit Apple stuff does have its bad points
I fixed it for and now I get to play with Garageband. Yay!
I got a new iPod for free. Silly people.
