They're pretty useful, and yes, good for recording. All depends what you like. I don't like pre-amps. Mega fussy. Amp, pedals, guitar. That's an honest man's set up.
I didn't really understand it though. It's got one of those ner-ne-ner ner-ne-ner organ effects though.
Used to have one... actually I still do. Useful for recording if you haven't got the space/time/volume for a full set up.
I've found they don't take pedals very well though.
they're like the electric drums of the guitar world. You don't have to crank it to get a good sound, but I would go for the expensive, you get much more fx and amp options.
I use mine every week and couldn't really do without it. I have a cheap home studio setup, the pod goes into my small mixing desk and comes out through my powered monitors. Simple yet effective electric guitar, cheap too
