The original Star Trek characters were more memorable, had more to say, had dialogue that WASN'T cringeworthy (if it was, it was because the actors knew the absurdity of what they were doing and did it with aplomb rather than ridiculous seriousness) and they were distinctive unlike the majority of Star Wars characters, who scream cliche after cliche.
The first six Star Trek movies are so fun, and are clearly about something, each with their own theme. The Star Wars movies, while iconic, are just flashy light shows for shallow people. Sure, they may be easier on the eyes, but where's the heart?!
I was more moved by seeing the Enterprise take its last voyage in Star Trek 6 than I was by Luke Skywalker's entire journey.
