is actually better. also Michael Mcintyre should be in there
UK'S LEAST FAVOURITE COMEDIANS
1. Jo Brand
2. Jonathan Ross
3. Victoria Wood
4. Ricky Gervais
5. Harry Hill
harry hill? fucking stupid people
on the list.
cos she walked out of Strictly Come Dancing
Also 'the best comic one liner' isn't a one liner. Or funny?!
people are idiots. Harry Hill is brilliant.
no prizes for guessing why rossy is on that list. bleh.
who do we hate just now? johnathan ross! he's funny sometimes *vote*
As that's where the scurvey was probably conducted
Only 18% of people polled voted for someone else out of at least 20 choices? Exactly who voted here?
Oh dear god.
my halls flatmates had this DVD of him that they kept on playing for a bit... and all his routines were just like: "greaseproof paper? How does that work? There's still grease around," I dunno if thats really a very good example, but just missing the point of genuinely useful everyday things a lot.
If Spike's in the least popular list, then surely it follows the same people would vote Tommy Cooper or Eric Morecambe into the most popular list?
It was an online poll.
If it was in the same format as the other Smile polls, then by the looks of it everyone can vote as many times as they want.
I've just voted for cheddar 5 times, though not sure if it's counted it each time:
There is also no way of viewing the results without voting, so if Peter Kay's name was the first in the list, then maybe people voted for him just to see the results. The other obvious possibility is that a Peter Kay fan posted the poll on a fansite.
I don't like it 5x as much as the others. Maybe 1.5x.
Peter Kay is the most popular comedian in britain or very close to it. The poll is accurate in that respect.
...............frankie boyle number TEN??? WHAT
I've taken funnier pisses
the only one of those that i can actually say i have found funny
All his material is exactly the same, you start to realise.
because most of his material is based around being scottish. It's like the way only scottish people seem to 'get' chewin the fat
Rowan Atkinson isn't even a comedian! Nor is Ross!
The lists are probably the wrong way round, for my money.
Rowan Atkinson is in fact a comedian.
"In the same poll, Only Fools And Horses was named best TV comedy, followed by Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and Red Dwarf in that order."
Harry Hill and Spike Milligan are brilliant though. This poll must've been answered by complete idiots.
example of his geniusness:
On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
I want this read out at my funeral
where the mice go clang
and you just can't catch em if they do
ning nang nong, cows go bong
nong nang ning, trees go ping
ning nong nang, mice go clang
what a crazy place to belong, is the ning nang ning nang nong
what time is it eccles?
"Garlic bread, it's the future, I've tasted it" - was named the best comic one-liner in an online poll.
Kay's alright but c'mon!
or has he transcended beyond such piffling trivialities because he's so much better than almost everyone on both lists?
Madness. The man's mind is so quick and he's consistently funny.
ian hislop has consistently pwned his ass on HIGNFY even though he's not a stand up by trade. Also, he's one of the least funny and skilled on Just A Minute, where many competitors arent comics. Actually, he's one of the guys that has ruined that show really :-(
he's usually good on just on a minute
otherwise I think you'd expect to see a lot more of the mock the week type folks creeping in there.
How can you conceivably believe that Paul Merton and Ricky Gervais are bad comedians yet Lee Evans, Alan Carr,Peter Kay Catherine Tate and Dawn French are supposedly the top 5 hmmm...
all to be bad comedians. I agree that it seems probably an older demographic... Merton, Gervais, Evans, Carr et al. Actually, Peter Kay has a real talent. His stand up is surprisingly different to a lot of other mainstream stuff, and phoenix nights still has to be one of the best comedies of the past 10 years.
I really like Frankie Boyle, but its quite obvious that he's not even nearly everyones cup of tea. Also, despite thinking he is the dawg when he gets it right, he still needs a lot of quality control. I cant understand why jimmy carr and michael mcintyre get the hate.
Given that it is an older demographic, where are harry enfield and paul whitehouse? their last season was awesome.
why are Spike Milligan and Harry Hill in the hated list? Carr and Tate are hardly family fun favourites either.
Who the hell did they poll?
Let's face it, it is customers of a bank - they were on the site for financial advice, saw this answered with the first name that came into their head - hence the arbitrary nature of the responses.
See I told you there was no one new funny 'these days'!
This is really been polled by the Last of the Summer Wine audience really so don't weep into your Hello Kitty manbags that Amstell isn't on there.
Alan Bennett or Spike Milligan as least favourite.
It's all family based humour. "Remembere when your Mam used to wake you up for school and you'd be like 'FIVE MORE MINUTES MAM' and then you'd go back to sleep".
