Has been re-admitted to hospital. Worrying at the very least with an injury like that.
What would happen to Chris Morgan?
that I honestly don't know the answer to.
Boxers, for instance, aren't prosecuted if the opponent they are fighting dies as a result. You are, however, not meant to elbow people in the head during a football match.
well, presumably the cops would get involved?
though they haven't been yet (for assault or anything like that). though i do know that barnsley were taking legal advice..
but that was with a view to suing Morgan's club, rather than prosecuting Morgan.
hm. i wonder if the fact that it was in a game of football makes proving intent in this case really damned difficult..
as duncan ferguson got jailed for an assault on the pitch, then morgan could be charged and the court would decide whether it was intentional or pre meditated or whatever.
they'd have to had done something already surely?
If it wasn't pre-meditated or intentional then there isn't really an applicable crime. If it was, then he would/should have already been charged with assault or GBH.
5live just said that they had unconfirmed reports it was an epileptic seizure..
was trying to claim that because Morgan takes it as much as he gives it out on the pitch (referring to the horrific injury he himself suffered a few seasons back) he shouldn't be blamed for this.
The guy's a thug. He should be kicked out of Sheff Utd and put in front of a Crown Court.
It's not deliberate looking enough to be given as GBH
The injury is.
It's an injury that required extensive hospitalisation and was potentially life-threating. Thusly, it is GBH.
you're right. Why the fuck do I bother going to university?
i get trumped by claire pretty much all the time. and i've got mother fucking A levels. :(
I'm glad I came on DiS. I couldn't sleep as I was worried, cold and miserable.
The man was a fine played at Leicester. It was always enjoyable shouting 'Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume' when he scored, even more enjoyable was that my mum thought we were all booing him.
Let's hope he's on the mend soon.
it's horrendous, and I would say pre-meditated. He came across with his arm raised looking to nail Hume and then head the ball away. And that's exactly what he did.
the FA are to take no action over Chris Morgan's 'challenge' on Iain Hume."
Or so says BBC's news flashy updater thing.
absolute disgrace if so. in what way was it not assault?
it flashes up over the headline.
on the guardian that no further action is to be taken against chris morgan. I can't fucking believe this, it's insane that he can get away with it.
Just yet more proof that football is run by a complete set of fucking clueless moronic clowns.
So a player more likely to get action from the FA if they speak out against a ref, or throw a coin back in the crowd, rather than nearly end a player's life with an intentionally aggressive and dangerous challenge. Good one
An FA spokesman earlier said: "When judging whether to take disciplinary action in this case, the FA has had to consider the challenge itself and not the outcome of it.
"The FA has been given express direction from Fifa that we cannot upgrade yellow cards to red.
"On this basis, we can only bring additional charges in the most exceptional cases and only if it can be proved beyond doubt that the actions of a player were a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent.
"Having reviewed all available evidence in this case, including submissions made by Barnsley, there is no basis on which an additional charge could be brought."
made me very, very angry
But has anyone actually seen the incident?
