Photo projects (help suggest some more-centric)

eschaton [Edit] [Delete] 43 replies 11:33, 21 November '08

So here's a few ideas I've got lined up for the near future. All fairly clichéd, but its for my own pleasure so I'm not really too bothered.

- Night buses
- Cheap cafes
- Regents canal at night
- City workers on their lunch
- From above down onto crowds (including use of tripod/blurred motion)
- People in phone boxes
- Old mans pubs
- Postal depots in the early morning
- The area around city airport

Can you suggest some other things that would make a good photo project? Mine are a bit samey, I could do with some outsider input.

Ta very much.

  • bus stops in shoreditch

    • I think the last thing Shoreditch needs

is more no-talent clowns like me taking photos of it and its inhabitants. But bus stops is a good suggestion. I'll put it on the list.

      eschaton @meths | 21 Nov '08, 11:37 | X
      • take it off again please.

        meths @eschaton | 21 Nov '08, 11:44 | X
        • too late pal

you'd better get round here with some tippex if you want it taken off the list

          eschaton @meths | 21 Nov '08, 11:54 | X
  • Arm wrestling competitions

    Manual worker attire
    Shoes

    gowman | 21 Nov '08, 11:35 | X
    • shoes whilst being worn or just shoes by themselves?

arm wrestling comps would be crucial. As would tricked-out shop mobility rides

      eschaton @gowman | 21 Nov '08, 11:39 | X
      • Shoes being worn

from shoe level, with a bit of sock/leg/trousers/skirt thrown in for measure.

        gowman @eschaton | 21 Nov '08, 11:42 | X
        • Ok, It has been added

          any more suggestions?

          eschaton @gowman | 21 Nov '08, 11:54 | X
          • Jeez you don't want much do you?

            gowman @eschaton | 21 Nov '08, 12:02 | X
            • just keep the ideas rolling fun boy

              eschaton @gowman | 21 Nov '08, 12:08 | X
  • Old people having McDonalds and drink Cola and stuff

    always looks slightly weird/amusing

    crashinglikeamouse | 21 Nov '08, 11:38 | X
    • there is a mentally handicapped man who stands outside KFC every morning

If I had absolutely no soul or modicum of respect for human beings I'd photograph him.

Old people in fast food joints is a good one.

      eschaton @crashinglikeamouse | 21 Nov '08, 11:41 | X
      • I'm not sure I could do it

it just seems fundamentally disrespectful. I think I'd deserved to get knocked out for it right there in the street

        eschaton @daisy_steiner | 21 Nov '08, 11:55 | X
        • yeah I know you weren't being dead serious

but some people would actually do this

          eschaton @daisy_steiner | 21 Nov '08, 12:08 | X
        • again, seems too disrespectful

same goes for the twatty students photographing drunks passed out/crying on benches round where I live

          eschaton @-Dolly | 21 Nov '08, 11:56 | X
        • Good one, it has been added

          keem em coming

        • I was in American Apparel on oxford street the other day

the people who worked there were hot. But dressed like 80s prostitutes. Also the clothes were rubbish, and the whole place had an unpleasent air of hip desperation.

          ottermagic @-Dolly | 21 Nov '08, 11:58 | X
          • I like their hoodies and t-shirts

and the girls who work there are really hot.

These have been my thoughts on American Apparel, thank you for reading.

            eschaton @ottermagic | 21 Nov '08, 12:01 | X
        • Tell me about your project on nihilism

are they Germans? Is it all about Flea?

          eschaton @KilleyKilley | 21 Nov '08, 11:58 | X
          • what were the photos like?

describe them to me / links?

            eschaton @KilleyKilley | 21 Nov '08, 12:27 | X
            • Thats a good idea

              I will defintely do this

              eschaton @daisy_steiner | 21 Nov '08, 11:58 | X
            • pictures of other people taking pictures

              well meta

              ottermagic | 21 Nov '08, 11:52 | X
            • hard to execute this one

plus in reality it'd just be pictures of dogs

              eschaton @daisy_steiner | 21 Nov '08, 11:59 | X
              • thats a good idea for once I've developed a bit more skill/style

I'd like to get the same person to be photogrpahed in numerous different locations wearing the exact same clothes / hair style / expression. So like in a shopping centre, the beach, on the bus, in the woods etc.

                eschaton @daisy_steiner | 21 Nov '08, 12:26 | X
              • people who are listening to music

i always wanted to do this, and have the title as what they were listening to

                pretty_vacant | 21 Nov '08, 12:05 | X
                • in what setting?

Live? At home? On headphones whilst out in public? This is a good idea. Photographing people rifling through vinyl in a record shop would always look cool

                  eschaton @pretty_vacant | 21 Nov '08, 12:10 | X
              • bus drivers

you get some pretty ace rebel types in London who shun proper uniform and instead go for the 80's leather fingerless gloves and wifebeater look.

                doctornovocalcords | 21 Nov '08, 12:42 | X
                • 'rebel bus drivers' is what I just wrote in my notepad

excellent suggestion Gaz. I bet there's certain bus routes that are real hotspots for these bad boys.

                  eschaton @doctornovocalcords | 21 Nov '08, 12:58 | X
                  • they're more prevalent in the outer London badlands

it's like Mad Max out there. I used to see a lot when I worked in Wood Green/ Green Lanes and got buses outwards to the North Circular etc.
