Day shift vs night shift

thewarn [Edit] [Delete] 129 replies 10:44, 18 November '08

What's the deal with this eh?

Bored office workers vs pissed insomniacs?

Tiresome 'humour' vs tiresome 'humour'?

10% trolls vs 12% trolls?

Endless threads about books/films/football vs endless threads about the same users again and again and I don't give a fuck shut up this isn't funny seriously shut up

The same people vs the same people?

WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG

Ps the dayshift RULES

  • The dayshift used to be good

but everyone has had their fun sucked out by relentless office hounds! I'm more of a morning/early evening shifter these days. Night shift got shit as well, it all began when loads of cheating pricks started playing i-sketch

    Yesiamaduck | 18 Nov '08, 10:48 | X
    • the best was that live video thing

that was great, but then that got shit as well.

    • What the hell are you taking about?

What 'fun' has been sucked out by 'relentless office hounds'?

Do you mean all those guys grumbling about stationery and meetings and starched shirts and commuting? And demanding everyone gets a job in an office because it's the only way to live? Those guys?

      I hate those guys.

  • Dayshift for the win

WOO! Yeah, we're so much better!!! In your FACE, nightshift! HA!!

The way I see it, I post during the day as an escape from work. I'd like to say I have better things to do in the evening than post on here, but that's not always true. Anyway, I don't care. Where's today's book/film thread? I want to look interesting and cultured.

The fact that I'm much nicer in person is levelled out by the fact that you have to actually see me.

                        • cut the people who come on in the evening some SLACK 'thewarn'

There's nothing else to do when you have no money and a fast internets connection! I'm sick of uni, it is rubbish. Want real job now. There was a thread about the Cows yesterday night, look! Admittedly it wasn't very good but still. Are you still going to All Tomorrow's Portlies? I'm a bit disappointed Boss Hog is the only Amrep band other than the Melvins.

                          • I've been misunderstood I think.

I don't hate the night-shift at all. My point was meant to be this contrived bitterness between the two was pretty silly, especially as a lot of the time it's the same people. If I wasn't in full time employment, I'd be on the nightshift. And I am some weekends anyway.

I can't get time off for ATP: I'm aiming for next year's Primavera as my next festival I think.

Primavera is really cool, I heartily recommend it unless you have bad knees because it's concrete city.

                        • I tend to stay on the music boards at night/weekends

the social tends to make me cringe/enraged. Has its moments though. Dayshift is genuinely hilarious at times, amplified by reading it in an inappropriate environment in which to laugh. But I'm too busy to be on much in the day now :(

                        • There are a lot of soul-searching meta-threads today

They're both better than the third way anyway - that sub-group of loners who post once a day at the exact moment 11:59 clicks over to 12:00 - The Nooners.

                        • its an age-gap.

all the boring 20/30something office workers come on in the day, and have discussions about football, films, maybe a bit of politics + a few rubbish injokes that make about 4 blokes laugh.

Then at night the cool creatures creep out of the woodwork and have arguments and stuff happens.

                          • Discussions of politics, films, sport and a few jokes?

You're right - if you hate all these things, you're probably a reclusive bore and the night shift is definitely the pigpen for you.

                        • The shifts can't exist without each other.

If there wasn't night shift back chat, then threads like this wouldn't exist, meaning there would be no mid-afternoon drama.

But, really, both shifts are full of losers. Day shift should get on with their work and night shifters should get on with their homework (or pubbing or sleeping).

My problem with the nightshift is that they never leave any handover notes. How are the dayshift supposed to know how the night went, what to expect during the day etc?

It's shoddy, and I'll be taking this up with my line manager
