I'm in a dilemma.
All I want to do career-wise is become a journalist. So, after finishing my English degree I'm doing a bit of work for my local paper The Sheffield Star.
However, everyone here is strongly urging me against going into journalism - and saying that doing a post-graduate NCTJ accredited course would be a waste of time as regional newspapers are dying on their arse
Whilst I appreciate this is true, it seems fucking dismal, and I was wondering if any other DiS'ers have experience of getting into the industry, are there any success stories out there?
