I mean for regular long-term sessions?
I recently went to see my Occupational Health people at work for some problems I've been having with stress. It turned out they felt there were no problems with my reactions to stress but I got talking about some much longer-term stuff and they recommended I see a psychotherapist (privately - turns out at least I'm not nuts enough to need to be seen on the NHS!). BTW I mean specifically a psychotherapist as opposed to a CBT counsellor or a pyschologist or something more short-term.
Any way I'm a bit nervous and freaked out at the possibility. I think it'll help me and she seemed to think I was a pretty much ideal case in terms of having a clearly definable problem that needed to be solved but also one that could be solved but I'm still a bit shy about doing it.
a) Has anyone seen one?
b) What was it like?
c) Did it work?
PS I'm aware this may not get many responses as people probably won't want to pour out details of their own fucked-up-ness on a public website (hell knows I don't - I've used a different account to post this than the one I've used before that people might know who I am through - I'm not a "well-known" DiSer btw so hopefully ths won't turn into a speculative thread about who I am as my name probably won't mean much anyway)
But if anyone did feel happy to post/pm me any info I'd massively appreciate it.
