oh dear ... how far that man has fallen ?
Alan Partridge was funny, not Series 1 funny but much funnier than the rest of the shit I had to sit through. He really has worn every single character of his into the ground.
or were you too busy burying your face in your hands to care?
At the end he came back onstage as Steve Coogan and sang a song about him being a cunt. It was really bad.
"DON'T RUN AWAY DON'T RUN AWAY"
but i just think they were trying to save face after i said it would be shit.
There's no way you could call that brilliant. Especially if you're a big fan of Coogan. It was just sad to watch.
Its not like you paid £40 for it is it?
From what I've heard of this tour, I'm glad I turned it down now.
My mates all laid into me for not going, but I just said i wanted to still regard Partridge & Saxondale as comedy greats in years to come. These kind of things just cheapen the whole thing for me...
And it was just fucking horrible. Arguably the worst experience of my life (and yes i have seen Craig David live) It was just tragically bad. People were booing, and that c*nt song at the end was appalling. I am actually sad to say I stayed for the whole thing. Did he do that medieval Partridge sketch? Apparently he has been dropping it because it got such shocking reviews and abuse. Fuck off Coogan and give us our money back.
for the Alan Partridge Motion Picture then people?
I'd say it lasted just over an hour an and a half.
The medieval sketch was poor as well. It didn't come as a great surprise really, at least Alan Partridge was funny.
he got a good reception and it really wasn't as bad as people have made out, yeah the characters in the first half weren't amazing, but it was worth it just for Partridge, the Thomas Moore sketch was very very funny.
The songs were a bit off putting and the first half wasn't anything great but Partridge was brilliant. More in the vein of KMKY than I'm Alan Partridge - how could you do that on stage anyway? And I quite enjoyed the Thomas Moore play for what it was.
will he be aware of the duff note he has hit with this tour?
It was just truly horribly bad. Coogan seemed all too aware he was shit, under-rehearsed and the crowd werent enjoying it. He fluffed so many lines. Even Partridge wasnt what it could of been. Without Ianucci, Coogan just cant write Partridge as well....its very dumbed down and obvious (like the last series). From reviews nationwide this tour has been an unmitigated disaster, bad review after terrible review. His bank balance will have swelled at £40 a ticket, but his reputation as a stand up looks shot to shit. If you dont believe me, just scoot around this website, its pretty hard to find good reviews.....
Although I noticed a fair few people leave during the interval. People started walking out during the Thomas Moore sketch (which was right after Partridge). He made a few cutting remarks about The Guardian and scousers, so I reckon he's pretty aware of all the bad press his tour has received.
what did he say about a) scousers and b) the guardian?
I am a plastic scouser, so this tickles me. He was very uneasy at the abuse he got in Liverpool 'COOGAN YA SHITE BASTARD!' etc etc etc
i was trepidatious after reading the awful reviews and went with very low expectations, but i actually thought it was pretty good.
sure, the writing was patchy but, songs apart, i thought paul calf and tommy saxondale were great in the first half, and obviously partridge was hilarious, apart from the overlong thomas more sketch.
really enjoyed the cunt song, but then i'm childish and find swearing funny.
pricey at 32 quid but i lolled throughout the 90 minutes. i saw dylan moran for 18 quid a couple of weeks before and he was on for about an hour and didn't raise a smile. coogan wins.
fairly embarrassing. He didn't even know his lines at that point.
I'm not sure how many layers of irony the cunt song was meant to have. Whilst he's an incredible comic actor, I'm pretty sure, particularly after this, that he is a massive cunt.
i don't doubt that he is in fact a cunt.
he is just that - a cunt. which is a shame as he's a decent performer but part of an act with good writers - like Hancock etc etc.
The horrible snooker player caricature style on the posters for this show just scream pantomime for the people with comedy angina
I think that was one of the first shows on the tour, which were apparently worse. It was utter shit.
