That's a scary black wave.
I once tired to surf a 6 footer and nearly drowned
The whole award photos are here and well worth a visit:
ive tried bigger and failed thou. Not surfed in years now thou due to living back in UK :(
in North Wales. It's worth a go, but a bit chilly in winter I reckon.
so i figured the comparison would make me loose my memorys of how fun it was
Ah man, that was the greatest pint/sex/run/goal scored ever. I'm never drinking/sexing/running/playing footie ever again.
i think it would be a better goal to move somewhere with surf again soo thou :)
for sheer size Todos Santos is hard to beat. Its a break right out in the ocean, regularly clearing 100ft apparently. Check it out:
Nastiest wave has got to be Mavericks, right?
I go once a year and am not very good.
I love surfing but rarely get the chance to go. Looking forward to Boscombe reef opening, might get to go a bit more often then. I tried surfing in 6 foot surf once and thought I was going to die. I'm rubbish, but I don't let that put me off.
When does it open? I go to Dorset 2/3 times a year and looking forward to having a go.
its on the Dorset coast anyway. First artificial surf reef in Europe, should be good. I try to go to Cornwall occassionally but haven't been for a while now, which is a damn shame because the place is beautiful and the waves are good too. I surfed in Scarborough last April, which was fun but just unbelievably cold.
How do you feel about this? Dry (not sure if correct terminology) times ahead?
"This article illustrates nicely the mind-numbing banality of the surfing culture. It's all "me, me, me" and "aren't I wonderful", which is all well and good, but it's no substitute for a personality."
but the physical act of surfing is fantastically exciting and fun. So thats what I focus on
what a doofus.
No shit. It'd be pretty impressive to get a wave that big indoors.
Do you think he meant offshore rather than outdoor?
