According to CNN. Worthless bastards.
tolerates blacks, not gays
I thought California was all left-wing? Or is this a country-wide thing?
You understand what I was questioning, yeah? Yeah you do. Stop being a gimp for a bit. :D
I'm sure he was one of a bunch of people campaigning for no to Proposition 8...
as is Obama, and ALL of californias newspapers. ALL of them, as well as lots of other ones statewide.
Yay! We can blame Obama!
but theres been massisve opposition to it all over the country? fucking ridiculous.
if so, i'd like an explanation as to why please, as i really can't see any reason myself.
as i fully expected it not to be, considering the amount of opposition it has received. The 'fucking ridiculous' at the end constitutes my own view of proposition 8, and the people who decided that they should pass it.
i think it might well be.
that Iraq war, what a success huh
Though I do agree with the phrase "Sometimes you've got to do what's right, not what's popular."
but there's no way Proposition 8 is 'right', never mind how popular it is and i feel this is at least a bit objective. Why should an entire group of people be discriminated against for doing nothing wrong? In my view that is immoral.
I think it's a joke it has been passed too, it's sheer bigotry - but there are areas where I disagree strongly with public opinion (for instance, most people in this country would support bringing back the death penalty, which I feel is repellent) so it's not a 100% barometer of what is 'right' either.
i just felt that the word 'right' was, in fact, wrong in this instance. It defys a basic human right for equality, and that sucks the big one.
the Mormon Church, John McCain, Focus on the Family and so the list goes on. Oh yeah it's all because apparently if two people of the same sex love each other it's clearly completely immoral to allow them to marry each other. What also winds me up is the campaign posters for Proposition 8 show a representation of a heterosexual "nuclear" family along with the slogan "restore marriage", thereby trying to imply that a wedded man and woman in a nuclear family is the way all families should be...because of course no other family unit is going to provide a stable upbringing. It makes my heart sink thinking how reactionary some people are :(
the positions of Obama and McCain on Prop 8 were out of necessity. Both have basically the exact same views ont he actual issue...
