Like a fifty quid electric guitar for example.
but the worst thing about them is that they feel really shit to play and are badly made with poor quality components.
rather than buying a shit one for now?
if you are willing to pay a bit more budget brands like squier, epiphone and danelectro are all reasonable
as I said in that thread the other week, you can get an amazing squier duo sonic for £150.
I just have no way of justifying it to myself
I could eat that, looks like it tastes of vanilla. I want it.
or the one I tried did anyway. for that cash it's unbelievable.
and fall apart in 12 seconds, and buzz on frets and go out of tune as you go up the neck, but probablyt make a cool noise
I'm gonna save up for a decent one.
£150ish can get you something decent. lots of people here can advise you well, but in my limited experience yamaha pacificas have an absolutely brilliant quality to price ratio. "Vintage" brand knockoffs are supposed to be good
have a pretty good strat sound but they fall to pieces so easily. Though that good be due to being messed around with by 13 years olds with sweets on their fingers all day.
ive had a pacifica since i was 16, cant go wrong with them
It's a bit like cheap wine. The expensive stuff is different, but not THAT different. Buy you know when you try it. But the cheap stuff is fine in a day-to-day sort of way.
a screwdriver jammed under the frets
should read 'strings' :D
guitars arn't for playing, they're for MAKING NOISE WITH! YEAH YEAH YEAH! DEVIL HORNS SIGN! I'M KURT COBAIN!
N.B smashing up your start copy when 10 people are half-watching from the bar isn't cool
i am a reprehensible hu-man be-ing.
hyphenating words? Anyone can do that!
you can't go wrong with a cheap guitar. I think that's what sonic youth started out doing.
would have been a vintage jazzmaster or jaguar or something
will be used by people who need cheap guitars.
I blame ebay for the lack of bargains on musical stuff.
if I was buying it new.
Because only the following sorts of instruments *truly* sound good:
- old instruments
- cheap instruments
If your a beginner I probibly wouldn't be worried about the guitar making you sound liek shite, your skills will be doing all of that for the time being.
Also if you want to be doing realy intricut subtle guiatr stuff then a buzzy cheap thing may not really suit it at all.
If you can wack out a tune on a shit guitar then by the time you get onto good equipment it will be even easyer.
then they're most likely to sound and play horribly!
Then again, my main guitar I got for £75 2nd/3rd hand and it plays like a dream. Upgraded a pickup and it sounds ace.
yamaha pacifica probably best for £50, althou i once bought a bc rich for £50. Just ebay and find one that has been beaten to shit, but check the neck is still fine ;)
there's plenty of high quality stuff to be had for that kind of money. Like this:
crappy unpotted pickups. microphonic feedback (not to be confused with the regular, good kind of feedback) is really bad and will occur with such pickups. save up a bit of money and buy a cheap second hand squier off ebay. probably have reasonable build quality and won't sound like a dying cat. i like jagmasters. they play really really nicely.
was made using guitars from argos and that doesn't sound too bad.
the guitars sound shite, but it fits
