Bit rubbish, really
It's left its mark, quite literally
With the new one, they've just moved the giant spider sculpture from out the front, and repurposed it for this new installation. The red thing is cool though (can you tell how basic my art knowledge is yet?). But the whole thing just feels completely cobbled together, and not 'post-apocalyptic' at all
I think part of the idea of the instalation in the first place was that the Turbine hall retains a permanent scar. It was quite a bold move though.
Haven't seen the new Turbine Hall thing. Gonzalez-Foerster innit? All I can remember is that it has the Bourgeois spider which is ace, and some bunk beds or something. Its got mixed reviews from what I've read.
and then, as you've said, a load of blue and yellow bunk bed frames. Firstly, the fact that they're blue and yellow kinda makes you feel like you're walking around an Ikea warehouse. And then there's a few random skeleton sculptures plonked around too. They've scattered loads of books on the beds for people to freely pick up and read, and there's a big screen at the end showing a succession of bleak scenes from various films
It's actually quite a good idea, had they got it right. But to me it just feels like it's been executed really poorly
it could have been quite atmospheric. But as you say, it comes across more like an Ikea warehouse.
you ungrateful sod
