I was very satisfied by this film on Saturday evening when I saw it at home.

Russel Crowe was superb and I could even stomach Christian one-character Bale, despite the fact they seemed a bit like they were acting in two different films. What I mean by this is that Crowe was brilliant as a typical charismatic, dangerous villain in an action film; Bale seemed as if he was playing a role in a more gritty, realistic sort of thing. Still though, it worked well enough.

But I have a question. SPOILER ALERT.

In the climax right at the end - what the hell happened?

The baddies have the place surrounded. Bale shoots his way out, dragging Crowe along against his will. Then someone says something to someone and Crowe suddenly joins forces with Bale, despite the fact Bale's aim is to send him to prison.
