Tell me if I've blown up my expensive bit of kit

ehwhat [Edit] [Delete] 15:53, 18 October '08

OK

I got a piece of electronic kit from The States

It came with an American power adaptor

The input it needs is 9V A.C, 1.3A

I went into Maplin, showed it to the chap, and he said all I needed was one of those plastic plug adapters, the travel ones, like.

So I bought one

plugged it in...

work for a few seconds

then didn't work.

I think it's an adaptor meant for 120V and I've plugged it into our 240V grid supply.

Oh dear...do you think it'll have just blown the adapter or the whole piece of kit?

what a cock.
